Perfecting that JLo glow is something I think a lot of us out there try our hardest to achieve and perfect. I’ve bought highlighting products in every kind of formula from pressed powder to liquid and have figured out which ones really bring that glow out and which don’t. Being that I’m a makeup junkie and always looking to try new things, I wasn’t about to stay satisfied with the great products that I already have in my arsenal. This also helps me provide you guys with more variety to choose from, which is how I landed upon Illamasqua’s Gleam Cream.
Gleam Cream is a lightweight iridescent cream that brightens and highlights any area of the skin it’s applied to and currently comes in two shades, Aurora and Supernatural. Supernatural is the newest shade that offers more of a bronze glow compared to Aurora which gives you a pearlescent champagne glow and is the one I ended up buying!
This product is formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan.
Price: $32 CAD at Sephora
Size: 0.23 oz
I was pretty much expecting there to be the kind of shimmer that I’m used to seeing in highlighters, but surprisingly discovered that it really is more of a natural shimmer. For me this meant that wearing this wouldn’t make me look as obvious as other highlighters tend to look. As it suggests, I’ve used it with and without foundation and on areas I want to accentuate like my lips and I love the difference it has made in how everything looks. The colour it leaves behind is VERY minimal so it will work on a variety of skin tones. I like to compare it to the look your skin would get from a nice facial, which I don’t get that often so this helps! It doesn’t slide around, crease or collect on dryer areas on my face and feels very lightweight. Since this highlighter looks more natural looking than most, I think because of this it will look amazing on even mature skin.
Overall, I’m really glad I bought this and think it was the perfect thing to buy to introduce me to Illamasqua since this is the first product I’ve ever tried from the brand. The price may sound a little steep but if you’re looking for something with less glitter and shimmer then Aurora is worth checking out. I will be posting upcoming makeup looks featuring Aurora, so look out for them!
