CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm Review, Swatches

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies

Hi Glitter Babes!

CoverGirl recently came out with a new line of tinted lip balms called Lipslicks Smoochies. I don't own very much of the brand but I've heard that a lot of people have been saying they're very similar to the CoverGirl Lipslicks Lip Glosses. I looked them up and the packaging is dead on but since I've never tried them, I will only be reviewing these based on my experiences with the Smoochies.

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies come in 12 fun shades that give lips a dash of sheer to semi opaque, hydrating colour. I ended up buying Smooch, Text Me, Be Sweet, C U L8R, Luv U and Sweet Tweet. The shade names are very much targeting the younger audience with the use of hash tags and abbreviated words/sentences, while the packaging is loud and bright, which also speaks to the younger crowd.

Smooch: Semi-opaque shimmery beige pink
Text Me: Semi-opaque raspberry pink
Be Sweet: Semi-sheer nude beige
C U L8R: Semi-sheer frosty light pink
Luv U: Sheer light berry pink
Sweet Tweet: Very sheer light pink

The initial experience I had with these Smoochies was that they smelled just like lipsticks I swear I used to wear when I was in high school. You know when you smell something and it feels like deja vu? I can't remember what lipstick I'm being reminded of but these smell like candy (and not the kind I'm okay with), which reminds me of lower end makeup. I'm not a huge fan of the smell but found that it dissipates into sort of a plastic taste when it's on your lips. My favourite one to wear is Text Me because it's the most vibrant and stood out the most, even on my pale lips. C U L8R and Be Sweet look similar in the way that they're pretty frosty looking. Most of them also have fine glitter in them which made them feel a little gritty. The one packed with the most glitter was Smooch which was unfortunate because the colour is really nice. The rest of the shades, Luv U and Sweet Tweet, were barely distinguishable between the two but added a bit of shine. For the more pigmented colours, they wore for a couple hours and I wasn't able to feel a lot of added moisture, especially with the gritty sparkles that were left behind.

Overall, I think these Smoochies will draw in the younger crowd for sure because of the packaging, names of the shades, scent and the fact that they deposit very light colour. There are other better alternatives out there when it comes to a moisturizing tinted lip balm, but the price of the Smoochies is pretty cheap and if you're not fussy about needing a lot of colour or with a really fruity scent, you may be interested in buying these for yourself or as a gift to someone who's new to wearing makeup.

What do you think of CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balms?
