Almay has always been one of those makeup brands that I’ve wanted to try out but haven’t really gotten around to do so. I’ve often overlooked their displays because there wasn’t anything that really grabbed my attention until now. Almay has totally revamped a lot of their products, as well as introducing new ones, to market themselves to the younger makeup purchasing crowd, which has definitely caught my eye! I was introduced to some of the new makeup lines at Spark Sessions and one of them was their new Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms.

Combining a conditioning balm with glossy colour, these Liquid Lip Balms provide 2x the hydration which will make your lips softer and smoother over time. It’s also non-sticky, gluten-free and hypoallergenic.

The colour I tested and took home with me was Just Plum Good, a sheer medium berry, which is one out of nine shades available. I was kind of expecting more of a deeper colour but after it was applied, it ended up looking like a tint of raspberry to my lips. I’ve heard you can build up these balms but I don’t think you can get any more than a semi-sheer looking finish. I think these are more about hydration than a lot of colour.

As you can see, the colour is pretty sheer and light, so if you’re afraid of wearing too much colour, this is a good option. My lips felt very hydrated and soft after it faded. It has a bit of a thick consistency which makes sense because of it being part lip balm. Overall, I like this liquid balm but I’m not in love with it due to the lack of colour I get with it.
