One thing that’s annoying about this time of year is the fact that my lips get so overwhelmingly dry. I carry a bunch of lip balms with me to help cure my dry, cracked lips at all times. This year I’ve been introduced to a ton of brands who make great natural lip balms, so this winter I’ve been protecting my lips with some of the best products out there and they’re all Canadian, too! If you’re looking for a natural balm to pamper your lips with and to feel confident in the ingredients you’re putting on them, this is the post for you!

Epic Blend Hemp Mint ($3.49 at Epic Blend & Boathouse stores): This super minty balm is gluten-free, non-GMO, pertroleum free and not tested on animals, so it’s a balm you can really stand behind. It’s made with organic hemp seed oil, which really helps get deep into the skin cells for supreme nourishment and anti-oxidant benefits.

Sweet Leaf Bath Co. Pomegranate Beeswax Lip Balm ($5.50 at Sweet Leaf Bath Co. & select health stores): Using the purest organic oils and butters, their beeswax lip balms are a highly nourishing treat for the lips that are sweetly scented in not only Pomegranate but, Chocoberry and Peppermint. They are packaged in 100% compostable tubes, making them good for the world and also hold 30% more balm than regular plastic tubes!

Kona Kare French Vanilla Lip Butter Balm ($8.00 at Kona Kare): I LOVE the smell of vanilla and french vanilla even more so! Inspired by their favourite local bakery, it’s a traditional french vanilla scent enriched with hints of warm carmelized brown sugar, which makes it no surprise that it’s their best seller.

Crawford Street Skin Care Mint-Vanilla Lip Balm ($5.00 at Crawford Street Skin Care): The minty, vanilla twist is what makes this balm one of my faves to wear. It contains Grape Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Beeswax, so it really is hydration insurance for your lips! It really helps me out when my lips are at their worst.

These balms have made me see not only the benefits of using natural products but that there are some really great skin/body care companies from Canada! It makes me really proud to be part of a country with people who are working really hard to put out products that are good the environment and for your skin. Along with being a comforting lip treatment, I love wearing these balms as a lip primer so all of my lipsticks glide on smoothly without accentuating any dry flakes. Another trick I like using them for is treating dry patches on my skin! One quick dab makes those spots disappear. I’m telling you, these balms really are multi-functional!

What are some of your favourite natural lip balms?
