Essence Cosmetics Love Letters Collection Review
Valentine’s Day may be well behind us but it’s still very much alive when you take a look at Essence’s Love Letters Collection. The soft pastels and shimmery shadows are enough to make anyone’s heart go aflutter and there’s even a notebook in the collection for you to add some of your own love letters to.
The items I bought from Love Letters were the eyeshadow palette and highlighter powder. They struck me as the stand out pieces from the collection, especially with the highlighter powder being undeniably breathtaking to look at. I was very much hesitant to start using it because of the poetry etched on it!

The eyeshadow palette is actually called Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours, which reminds me of the Sex and the City movie and I’m always collecting anything relating to that show so the name of this palette was nice to find out. All of the shades are pearly shimmers and comes with a dual ended applicator so you can take it with you anywhere.

The eyeshadow colours in Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours are:
  • Light beige orange
  • Light creamy beige
  • Light beige pink
  • Light silvery blue
  • Medium grey taupe
  • Dark charcoal grey

My Thoughts: Overall, I wasn’t overly excited about how these shadows turned out. The quality that I’ve come to expect from Essence shadows was still there but there weren’t any stand out shades in this palette for me. It’s a nice palette if you’re looking for really pale neutral shades with only one really dark colour in the mix. I can also see this palette working well on teens as their first eyeshadow palette because of how neutral and appropriate it is for school.

The highlighter powder, appropriately named Love Poem, is a pale pinky beige with very subtle golden shimmer that doesn’t really show up on the skin, which makes it different from the other highlighters I’ve bought from Essence which were more shimmery.

My Thoughts: This highlighter does a great job at brightening up your skin as opposed to being all about shimmer. The pale pink tone to it makes it more compatible on lighter skin tones, so if you are fairly tanned or darker, I would suggest you test it out first before buying. It glides onto the skin smoothly and looks natural enough to wear easily during the day. If I’m going for a more matte look with just a little bit of shine to the skin, this works perfectly.

If you’re interested in not only these items but anything else in this collection (there are some pretty nail polishes in it too!), I would head over to Shoppers Drug Mart asap because from what I’ve seen at the stores nearby, their stock is getting more limited as the weeks progress. If you love pale, neutral colours and soft pinks, you will really like Love Letters!
