It’s kind of strange that contouring is becoming a thing now, since it’s been around forever. I think what’s new about it is that more makeup brands are coming out with palettes that make it easy for just about anyone to learn and master on their own. Kat Von D has come out with her own version called the Shade & Light Contour Palette that makes it easy for people all skin tones to sculpt their face with authentic perfection.
Shade & Light Contour Palette comes with three contour powders that range from a light taupe to a deep brown that help create realistic shadows while the three highlight powders, that range from pale pinkish nude to a soft peach, have a soft luminosity to them that imparts dimension and a natural glow to the skin. The powders are easily buildable and offer fade-proof resilience for all skin tones and face shapes. It also comes with a step-by-step guide so you can learn how to do anything from slimming your face to shaping your nose.
Price: $55 CAD / Available at Sephora
What led me to buy this was basically the fact that it actually was rated and reviewed better than the Anastasia Contour Kit, which I had been lemming for for months. Every shade in this palette mimics highlights and shading that you would find on any supermodel with their naturally gifted bone structure. The highlight powders add a natural radiance to your skin without looking like you loaded up on shimmer. The shadows are super blendable , feel very light and the shade range is amazing, so this would be the perfect palette for any makeup artist’s kit. Even though I personally wouldn’t be able to use the darkest colours on myself, I am very much looking forward to trying them out on a friend to see the effects. You can do so much with a contour palette, like give yourself a bigger bust line and even create some sweet looking abs, which is why I think everyone needs to own their own palette and find out how many things they can do with it to shape and sculpt parts of your body without needing any plastic surgery! Bravo, Miss Kat Von D, for making such a great palette!
