Smashbox Spring/Summer 2016 L.A. Lights Collection

L.A. is a place I dream of going to someday. I’m obsessed with the way of life, the fashion, the 24/7 beautiful weather, palm trees and celebrities, so when I hear about a makeup collection inspired by the magic of the city, I get really excited. For Spring & Summer 2016, Smashbox came out with a new L.A. Lights collection of lip & cheek products that are inspired by the magic light of an L.A sunrise and sunset.

Smashbox Spring/Summer 2016 L.A. Lights CollectionFirst we have the L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Colors which has been expanded to include 5 new shades this year that are very L.A. The shades I got to test out are Mulholland Mauve ( a pinkish nude), Echo Park Pink (a rosy pink) and Sunset & Wine (a burgundy wine). They can be used on your lips or cheeks or both, and the sticks also come with a buffing sponge on one end for easy blending. When applied, they give your skin a natural, illuminated glow of beautiful colour.

Price: $36 CAD / Available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Murale & Sephora

My Thoughts:

These beauties are very creamy but also very blendable and easy to work with. The colours offered go from a sheer sheen to a punch of colour but nothing is outrageous or uncomfortable to wear and the results give you an enhanced natural look with an amazing glow. They are VERY convenient to have on you because you can tackle both your lips and cheeks in a matter of seconds. Mulholland Mauve is great for a natural soft pink flush and gorgeous nude pink lip, Echo Park Pink brightens up your face and is a very playful and fun pink to wear on your lips, while Sunset & Wine gives a warmer rosy red flush to your cheeks and your lips a beautiful burgundy that enhances your pout perfectly. The sponge applicator is easy to use for application, although I prefer using my fingers to warm up the product and smooth it onto my skin.

Smashbox Spring/Summer 2016 L.A. Lights CollectionLast but certainly not least, we have the new L.A. Lights Blush & Highlight Palette in Pacific Coast Pink, which is one of three in the collection. It offers two tonal shades of pink, which include a Rich Pink (a medium rosy pink), a True Pink (a bright rosy pink), along with a perfectly matched Highlight Pink (a pale pink with golden shimmer) that are all long-wearing and richly pigmented. It also comes with a little #SHAPEMATTERS booklet that gives tips for applying the blushes and highlight to different face shapes.

Price: $40 CAD / Available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Murale & Sephora

My Thoughts:

I LOVE how complimentary and pigmented these colours are! You can use the True Pink as a soft daytime blush and amp it up with the Rich Pink blush and lots of the Highlight Pink for the evening. The case is also very slim and lightweight so it doesn’t take up space in your makeup bag. The colours have impeccable longevity and don’t fade or breakdown during the day. I also like amping up the Lip & Cheek color sticks with a soft dusting of one of the blushes and the highlighter on top when I want brighter cheeks and even longer wear.

What do you think of the new Smashbox Spring/Summer 2016 L.A. Lights collection? Have you tried out the lip & cheek colours or the blush & highlight palette yet?! Share your thoughts below!
