It's Colouring Time! Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencils Review

Products these days are all about being more innovative and different in some kind of way but I really like when brands keep it simple and go back to basics. I feel like this was definitely the case with Make Up For Ever who recently launched their Artist Color Pencil‘s. They look exactly like pencil crayons but instead of being used to colour on paper (which you could still do with these but that would be a waste :P) you would use these to basically colour anywhere on your face. I suck at drawing, so these are colour pencils I could really have some fun with!

Top: 900 – All Over Magenta
Bottom: 208 – Unlimited Blue

You can line your eyes, lips, fill in your brows, add contour or blush with the Artist Color Pencil‘s, which come in 39 intensely pigmented shades. They can be worn individually or together and come in a creamy matte formula that glides on smooth and blends out seamlessly. Since they are very creamy, they are not long wearing so you will have to apply a primer underneath.

My Glittery Thoughts:

I like these pencils not only because they bring me back to my childhood of colouring in colouring books but the colours they give off are so fun and easy to apply. As mentioned, they’re really creamy and smudge easily so you will have to use a primer underneath or you can use them as a base underneath a coordinating eyeshadow or whatever and it will make that colour even more intense. I have been using them as eyeshadow bases as well as eyeliners and I’ve used the magenta shade to line my lips and turn my brows into a funky pink shade.Β  I’ve gotten used to self sharpening pencils, retractable pencils or ones you really can’t sharpen or retract so this is a nice change to be able to sharpen and be able to use every last bit of product. If you’re looking for a straight up waterproof pencil, you would definitely enjoy the Aqua XL pencils from MUFE more because these require a little more work to get them to stay in place but they’re still fun to play with if you’re willing to work with them. Because of their creaminess and nice pigmentation, I’m interested in trying out one of the brown shades as a brow pencil and maybe even a contour colour and see how that goes!
