My mom introduced me to astrology when I was very young and it quickly became a huge part of my life. I would always do charts for friends/boyfriends/etc. to find out how compatible I was with these people. It also helped me discover more about myself. I’m very much an Aquarius but my rising sign is Scorpio which has a big role on my emotions and how I express them. Do any of you follow astrology?! Let me know in the comments! So, you can imagine that I’ve been LOVING the influx of astrology themed makeup collections lately. One collection in particular immediately caught my eye and it is, of course, from Wet n Wild! Their Zodiac Collection is inspired by all of the elements and the astrological signs that they cover.
There are 12 signs within each of the 4 elements, so there is A LOT for me to cover for you guys. The collection is inspired by the celestial beauty of the 12 zodiac signs and gives everyone the opportunity to express their unique personality through the stunningly curated shades that perfectly align with every star sign and their elements. Like all of Wet n Wild’s products, these products are cruelty free, gluten free, fragrance free and paraben free. They are also trying to make all of their products vegan and a lot of this collection contains vegan products. This is also launching in Walmart stores here in Canada, although I have yet to spot it.
The collection includes 12 Color Icon Lip Gloss‘s ($2.93) that deliver ultra pigmented mirror-like shine and are formulated with argan oil and macadamia oil to keep your lips soft and moisturized, as well as Vitamin E and jojoba oil which both improve and soothe your lip’s texture. All of the lip glosses are vegan except for Taurus, Libra and Pisces.

There are also 4 Color Icon Eyeshadow ($4.68) palettes in the collection that are inspired by the elements and offer highly-pigmented metallic shades that are extremely blendable and provide long wearing power. You can wear them wet or dry depending on how vivid you want the shadows to be.

You can’t have a collection without highlighters! This collection has 5 of them and the first 4 are Mega Glo Highlighting Bar‘s ($6.93). Inspired by the elements, the highlighting bars have a very smooth formula that provides a strobing effect to your skin that blends in seamlessly and can be applied wet or dry to give you a variety of glowy effects. The Earth highlighting bar is the only one that’s vegan out of these highlighters.
MegaGlo Highlighting Bars From L-R: Fire – reddish bronze, Water – icy blue, Earth – golden tan, Air – pink beige
The last highlighter is definitely one of the most exciting products in the collection for me and it is the MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder ($6.93) in Written in the Stars. This loose highlighting powder, made of iridescent pearls, is great for using anywhere you want to glow and has a buildable formula that blends in really smoothly for a stunning luminous sheen. It is also vegan.
My Glittery Thoughts:
What I discovered with each of the lip gloss sets for each element was that most of them featured a sheer sparkly gloss, a semi-opaque coloured gloss and a metallic glitter gloss. I think it’s a cool idea to offer a range of different finishes and looks you can achieve. So if you’re more into subtle, sheer glosses with a hint of sparkle, you’ve got a selection of choices and if you want to wear something really bold and different, you would probably love the metallic glitter glosses. The sheer glosses aren’t very sticky and easy to wear, while the semi-opaque glosses are buildable, which makes them another option for people who are too shy to wear something bold. I’ve always thought that glosses are a fun and easy way to wear colour on your lips without it feeling uncomfortable. The glitter glosses have some grit to them because of all of the glitter but man, are they stunning! I especially love the metallic glitter glosses from the Earth set.
The eyeshadow palettes are, for the most part, very stunning but I’m not a fan of how the colours are situated in each pan. Since they don’t have their own separate pans, these palettes get very messy really quickly and some of the eyeshadows are very hard to dip into because of their size. It would be more helpful if it was laid out like their regular palettes because I know I would enjoy them a lot more. The colour schemes for each palette are fun, except in the Fire palette, the two red shades that are side by side took me a really long time to figure out what their differences were. All of the shadows are metallic/shimmery, so you can’t make up a complete eye look with any of the palettes because there are no mattes included. If you don’t mind using another palette in addition to these ones, they definitely amp up your eye looks because some of the shadows are so intense and colourful, and I love using them wet or dry.
The highlighting bars are a bit of a hit/miss for me because they don’t go on as smoothly as they swatch and look a little chalky on the skin. The blue highlighter goes on like a pale icy bluish white and takes a bit to build up. All of the shades take a bit of patience and work to make them look smooth and pigmented. I absolutely love the loose highlighting powder from the Goth-o-graphic collection, so I was beyond excited to try this one out and it impressed the hell out of me. It makes your skin glow and shine like the stars, so when I want to amp up my look, I will dip into this highlighter. It can create a subtle or really glamorous highlight. The only difference between this one and the one from Goth-o-graphic, aside from the colour of course, is that it is a little bit chunkier in consistency but it still goes on very smoothly.
There is a lot to love and enjoy in this collection and if you love astrology, like me, the lip glosses are not one to miss and the loose highlighting powder is stunning, and if don’t mind some products that take a bit of work to play with, picking up an eyeshadow palette or highlighting bar or two aren’t a bad idea to pick up either 🙂
