5 Travel-Friendly Makeup & Beauty Products from mark. & Avon

I’m sure a lot of you have your summer vacations planned by now or maybe you’ve got a good idea of where and when you want to go. Whether you’re going for a week long vacation or a long weekend vacation, you need to bring beauty products with you that are both functional and compact so they minimize your luggage load. I recently discovered 5 travel-friendly makeup & beauty products from mark. and Avon that have both of those qualities and will have you organized and looking amazing for your much anticipated trip.

5 Travel-Friendly Makeup & Beauty Products from mark. & AvonHook up your eyes with mark.’s new Eye Contact Hook Up Eyeshadow magnetic palette in Smoke & Mirrors ($18). It comes with nine shades that you can mix and match in a blendable, crease-proof formula. If you love smokier shimmery shades of green, purple and brown, this palette has it but you can also get lighter, day-appropriate eye looks with it too but there’s also a neutral eyeshadow palette available if that’s what you prefer. The palette is very travel friendly because it fits into the palm of your hand and it’s magnetic too so it won’t go anywhere when it’s connected side by side to another Eye Contact palette or mark.’s Cheek Magnet Hook Up Blush.

The Cheek Magnet Hook Up Blush ($18) comes in six sizzling shades that come in a mix of mattes and shimmers that give you a radiant flush that is also buildable. The shade I got to try out is Mauve Forward, a matte mauvy pink that would look good on everyone. It’s neutral enough to compliment a lot of eye looks and perfect for travelling because, like the Eye Contact palette, it fits into the palm of your hand and I like that it’s magnetic as well.

I like bringing lip products with me that do more than just add colour to my lips and the All Butter Now Lip Treat‘s from mark. do exactly that. The lip treat’s help increase your lip moisture by 124% and contain shaea, cocoa and mango seed butters. They come in eight shades that range from sheer to full coverage that all deliver gorgeous colour with a buttery shine. I tried out Bare All which is a semi-sheer beige nude and a colour that will go with pretty much any makeup look because it’s not too light and is more of a natural nude. Being under the sun and in different climates can leave you with nasty, chapped lips and I really like that this does double duty and gives my lips the hydration they need on a regular basis.

5 Travel-Friendly Makeup & Beauty Products from mark. & AvonFrom L-R: Dusk Till Dawn Waterproof Eyeliner in Blackout & Daybreak

When you’re on vacation, you’re bound to have a day (or two) that goes on until the late hours of the night and that’s why having something waterproof with you is essential. The Dusk Till Dawn Waterproof Eyeliner‘s ($10)  from mark. last all day and glide on smoothely and precisely. They come in five shades and provide a velvety finish that’s also smudge-resistant. I got to try out their black and brown pencils called Blackout and Daybreak. They have a very creamy consistency when you first apply them which gives you a quick opportunity to play around with them, but when they dry you’ll need a good waterproof makeup remover and some elbow grease to remove every last bit. This is why bringing at least one waterproof eyeliner with you is a good idea because it will stand up against anything – a swim at the beach, a night of dancing and any and all emotions that come from being on a great trip.

I can’t forget to mention the products you downsize when you go on vacation, like sunscreen, body wash and lotions. Some of the smaller tubes can be really inconvenient and hard to work get product out of. That’s why Avon’s Be Inspired Travel Set ($19.99 / Avon.ca) is the perfect kit for your body care and sunscreen needs because it comes with tubes that are squeezable, so you can get every last ounce. The silicone tubes range with the capacity of holding 37 to 59 ml and are the easiest things I’ve used for creams because it isn’t a struggle to make sure you’re not wasting anything. They come with a clear zip up clear case which you can use to transport the tubes or you can use them to, of course, help you bring more makeup with you!

Avon Oval Makeup Brush Set

Avon Oval Makeup Brush Set Review

For the past year, oval brushes have been making the rounds and have become quite popular. I bought my first oval brush set last year and really like how easy they make applying makeup, so when I received the new Avon Oval Makeup Brush Set, I was extremely excited to see if I would love them just as much.

Avon Oval Makeup Brush Set Review

What makes oval brushes so popular is that they come with ergonomic handles making it easier to apply your foundation, as well as denser, more close-set bristles so your makeup applies more evenly and you use less of it. Avon‘s new Oval Makeup Brush Set offers exactly that with its set of three synthetic brushes that give you everything you need to complete a full face of makeup. It includes a Big Oval Brush, which works for applying foundation, blush, bronzing and setting powders, a Linear Brush, which works for applying concealer, eyeshadow, brow setting powders as well as setting your makeup around the creases around your nose and eyes, and a Small Circle Brush, which works for applying lipstick and eyeshadow, as well as applying concealer under your eyes and in the inner eye corners. For cleaning, all you need to do is wash them with a mild soapy water and they’ll be ready for the next round of beautification.

Price: $50 for the set / Available now at Avon.ca

Avon Oval Makeup Brush Set Review

My Thoughts:

I love oval brushes because of their density and how you can get a pretty smooth application out of pretty much every brush. First things first, I love the Big Oval Brush! It’s easy to maneuver around your face for a full coverage, smooth look with your foundations and powders. I really like the Small Circle Brush for applying eyeshadow into my crease and cleaning up the outer edges of my eyeshadow with concealer. The Linear Brush was a little more difficult to use for multiple purposes but I do like it for contouring my nose and adding brow powder to my eyebrows. The brushes themselves are flexible but durable and easy to move and bend around without feeling like you’re going to break them and feel really soft and luxurious. The only downside with this set is that it’s a bit limiting. I would’ve liked to see a smaller version of the Big Oval Brush in there (and several others for that matter) as well because it would be perfect for applying concealer because the Small Circle Brush felt like it was poking my under eye area and it would be best to use something more flat so it easily glides around and feels comfortable. The price of this set is a little steep considering you only get three brushes, but seeing as oval brushes are usually, on average, a little more expensive than regular brushes, you might be interested in this set, especially if you’re a loyal Avon fan. I really hope they expand on their oval brushes and offer them for a good deal!

Weekend Pampering Essentials from Avon

Weekend Pampering Essentials from Avon

There are some weeks that just fly by so quickly and others, like this one, that seem to drag on ever so slowly. When a week like this comes along, I will usually plan a pampering session for the weekend to treat myself and get ready for a new and (hopefully) faster week. There are a few weekend pampering essentials from Avon that I’ve been loving lately that you should consider treating yourself with after a long week.

Weekend Pampering Essentials from Avon

  • Skin So Soft Original Body Oil ($12.99 / 739 ml): First things first with any pampering session, I like to get started with a luxurious bath where I bust out a beautifully scented bath oil. The Skin So Soft Original Body Oil is infused with jojoba seed oil and has an uplifting botanical and herbal fragrance. It locks moisture into your skin, making you feel soft and smooth. Plus, the bottle is a jumbo size, which means it will last forever and the bottle itself has a pretty, limited edition floral design. This is the perfect way to get yourself relaxed and in the pampering mood.

  • Anew Sheet Mask Collection ($24.99 ea. for a set of 4): After sudsing it up in the bath, I like popping on a luxurious sheet mask. The new Anew Sheet Mask Collection offers masks for brightening as well as firming your skin. The Brightening masks will leave your skin looking radiant, refreshed and instantly hydrated thanks to the continuous release of white pearl essence because of its ability to brighten your skin for immediate benefits. The Firming masks contain royal jelly essence, as well as water and other previous nutrients that work together to firm, tone, lift and hydrate your skin immediately. All it takes is 15 – 20 minutes for either mask and you’re on your way to brighter and/or firmer skin!

  • Be Inspired 5 Piece Essential Kit ($9.99): The weekend is the perfect time to give your nails the love that they need and with the Be Inspired 5 Piece Essential Kit, I’ve got everything I need to prep my nails for some fun colour. The set comes with a floral designed cuticle clipper, nail clipper, nail file, scissors, and a cuticle pusher, which all come in an adorable floral compact case that says “smile, you’re gorgeous” on it. The beautiful floral designs are an immediate mood booster and I always grab for this set instead of my bland and boring silver nail tools.
  • True Color Cuticle Conditioner & True Color Pro+ Nail Enamel ($8.00 ea. / 12 ml): After all of the nail prepping work is done, I will add a drop of the True Color Cuticle Conditioner to my cuticles and rub it into my hands as well. Its got vitamin E and evening primrose seed extract which helps absorbs quickly and makes your nails look instantly more healthy. Then once that’s taken care of, I’ll put on any of the new True Color Pro+ Nail Enamel polishes seen scattered around in the photos. The polishes offer up to 12 days of lasting colour with high shine that is resistant to nicks and they increase your nail strength by 80%. They also come in tons of fun colours to compliment everyone’s mood.

  • True Color Perfect Eyebrow Styling Duo ($6.99 / 2.3 g) & Silicone Grip Tweezer with Brow Brush ($10) : I love playing with my brows and making them look much more fuller than they really are. First, I always clean up my brows and the Silicone Grip Tweezer with Brow Brush is the cutest, ergonomically friendly tool to do the job. The removable silicone grip cover comes with a brow brush that will let you move around your brow hair so you can create the perfect arch with the stainless steel tweezers without going overboard. After tweezing is done, the True Color Perfect Eyebrow Styling Duo is a great duo to use to create a natural looking brow. They come in four shades: Auburn, Blonde, Deep Brown & Soft Brown. And aside from the colours, they also come with a setting wax and mini dual-ended angel brush.
  • True Color Fiber Full Eyebrow Gel ($6.99 / 1.5 g): I like sealing my brows off with a coloured gel that keeps them in place and also adds a touch of colour. The True Color Fiber Full Eyebrow Gel fills, defines and shapes your brows when the fiber gel twists up into the middle of the circle of bristles. The applicator lets you blend it in seamlessly for long lasting results with its Light Brown and Dark brown colour options.

After all of these steps have been completed, I like to chill and veg out while watching Riverdale (one of my new favourite shows!), Schitt’s Creek or one of the other hundreds of shows I’ve currently got on rotation.
