Are you a Saint or a Sinner? Kat Von D Saint & Sinner EDP Fragrances Review

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner EDP Fragrances Review

Kat Von D knows how to deliver when it comes to great makeup and I always get excited about what she’s going to release next. One of her newest releases was for her Saint and Sinner Eau de Parfum fragrances. Influenster offered the opportunity to try the fragrances out complimentary and how could I really resist that?

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner EDP Fragrances Review

Saint and Sinner were actually released a while ago back in 2009 and now they’re back and better than ever. Meet Saint Eau de Parfum ($88 for 5oml / $115 for 100ml / Available now at Sephora), a soft, dreamy and classic floral fragrance that includes top notes of muscat sage and mirabelle plum, medium notes of jasmine, almond flower and lily of the valley and base notes of vanilla, white cedar, peach and musk. It’s influenced by Kat Von D’s softer side and reminds her of what falling in love for the first time feels like.

Where Saint evokes love and romanticism, Sinner Eau de Parfum ($88 for 50ml / $115 for 100ml / Available now at Sephora) is all about edgy confidence. Sinner offers top notes of mandarin, orange blossom and mirabelle plum, middle notes of jasmine, white florals and cinnamon, and base notes of vetiver, patchouli, wood, vanilla and musk. Sinner shares the same floral notes as Saint but with a bolder, spicier flavour.

My Glittery Thoughts:

So am I a Saint or a Sinner? I’m usually more of a fan of spicier scents but Saint takes the cake for me. It’s got a beautiful mix of florals and musky vanilla whereas with Sinner, the patchouli, vetiver and white florals are too strong for my liking. You can’t judge a fragrance by the first sniff because once you spray it on your body, it mixes with your body chemistry and transitions into something else. That’s how I’ve been able to fall for fragrances I wouldn’t normally fall for, however I can’t get Sinner to work for me. If you’re not sure which one you will like best, spray each of them on at different times and wait for them to settle into the skin and make your decision. Saint won me over as soon as I sprayed it into the air and love its warm, romantic aroma on my skin. It is very light so the scent isn’t very powerful, so you might enjoy it more in the fall/winter when you’re not sweating and losing scents on your skin easily. The small bottles are cute although I wish they came with a spray nozzle because it’s a little tricky to dab it on my skin without it spilling everywhere. The full-size bottles are gorgeous, so if you like fancy bottles to display, you won’t be disappointed with Saint and Sinner.

Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette Review

Kat Von D, Review
Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette Review

For Christmas and my birthday (which is today), I always get a gift card to Sephora. As a big makeup hoarder who has drawers of every kind of product and palette a makeup junkie could ever want, I’ve become picky with what I buy and add to my overflowing stash. However, the new Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette became one of those exceptions.

Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette Review

Makenzie wants to channel her inner pastel goth.. after her sleep, of course.

After seeing tons of beautifully stunning and vividly bright makeup looks online, I knew I needed the Pastel Goth palette. Kat Von D shared her take on edgy neutrals that are inspired by the #pastelgoth trend on social media. This palette contains 8 matte, pastel eyeshadows in a silky and blendable formula that’ll let you create an unlimited rainbow of looks. What sounds better than that?! The shadows come complete in slim case with the name and outline of the palette in a stunning pastel ombre.

Price: $51 / Available now at Sephora

My Thoughts:

After reading that this palette was inspired by the “pastel goth” trend, I had to look it up because I had never heard of it before. I saw a lot of goth girls and guys wearing soft pinks, purples and blues (far from what I knew goths to look like when I was growing up!) and now it makes sense why these colours were chosen, although I wish they included a pink! These eyeshadows are very smooth and easy to apply and blend out. There is a bit of chalkiness to them (a little moreso with the white) but they go on well but even better if you apply them over a white or really light eyeshadow base with a flat brush. The colours themselves are pigmented but not as bright as they appear when swatched but they’re still very fun to play with and remind me a lot of spring. I really like star and doom because they are two of the most vibrant. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and will be using it heavily for many upcoming makeup tutorials.

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette Review

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette Review

The makeup gods (Kat Von D in particular) have answered my call and delivered a magical palette that transcends time and beauty. I’m talking about the new Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette! It’s a multi-purpose palette that offers duo chrome, prismatic shades that even unicorns, like My Little Pony’s (who wanted to be part of the photo shoot), are quite jealous of.

The Alchemist Holographic Palette features 4 transforming powders that are perfect for achieving a spectrum of special effects by layering it over your eyeshadow, lipstick or face. The palette is formulated with Double Dimension Technology which is packed with 360° refractive pearls that are dipped in a prismatic coating that deliver bold, transforming power. Since it contains such high quality pearlescent particles, a little will go a long way and just a touch of any of the powders will give your skin a beautifully holographic, luminized effect.

My Thoughts:

I knew I wanted this palette ever since I saw it being revealed on Instagram back in early December. It reminded me of the ABH Moon Child palette, but since this was hitting Sephora shelves and would be easier to get my hands on, I wanted this one more. The Alchemist has exceeded my expectations! The powders are very smooth, creamy and blendable and the results are STUNNING! I love adding them to my cheeks for an ethereal glow or on top of a drab lipstick for a hot new look. They especially look really good when they’re added on top of darker eyeshadows but I like the soft glowyness they radiate when they’re added to a neutral eye look. The only thing I would change about this palette is the size since it’s quite small but I’m sure Kat Von D will come out with another face palette that will include something similar to these powders. Overall, I love this palette for creating multi-dimensional, fun makeup looks and I like that it’s pretty lightweight and very travel friendly since it fits into the palm of your hand. If you’re looking to try out something different and want to get your holographic glow on like me, you need to seriously check this palette out!
