Turning Back Time with Mary Kay TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares

Mary Kay TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares

There’s no denying that I’ve put my skin through hell in my 20’s and for the past couple years I’ve been trying to fix that damage. All of us have, at some point in our youth, thought that we were invincible against the sun and that whatever effects that would come with it would only be a concern to us much much further down the road. Boy, were we wrong! I’ve tried a lot of skincare products to help rehabilitate my skin but haven’t used many products with Vitamin C, which is huge for helping skin damage and making it look more youthful again. So, it felt like a sign from the heavens when I received the brand new Mary Kay‘s TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares and the complimenting TimeWise Replenishing Serum+C to try out.

Totally new to the market and never seen before, the TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares ($30 for 12 squares / Available at MaryKay.ca) is a beauty industry first because it supercharges your daily serum with the boosting power of pure Vitamin C in a little square. After the square dissolves when you mix it with your serum, your skin will look more even toned, more radiant, with less fine lines and wrinkles in as little as two weeks of use. Pure Vitamin C loses its power and potency when it’s exposed to air, light or water, but with the technology that Mary Kay has put into these squares, the pure Vitamin C remains stable until you unlock its power with every use. When the square dissolves into the palm of your hand, it transforms into a fresh, potent and pure Vitamin C elixir that gives a power boost to your serum for an anti-aging boost. The Vitamin C in each square stays fresh and powerful every time it’s used. What could be better than that? So how do you apply it? Start by opening up one of the packets and place the square in the palm of your hand and ad 3-4 drops of water and mix until the square dissolves, then add your usual amount of serum to the solution and mix everything together. Then apply the solution to your face and wait until your skin is dry before putting any other skincare products on top. You can use these squares three times a week and since it can’t be mixed with SPF, I prefer to use this at night.

To really give the squares an even bigger boost, I decided to pair it with the TimeWise Replenishing Serum+C, which made this an unstoppable Vitamin C power duo. The TimeWise Replenishing Serum+C ($65 / 44 ml / Available at MaryKay.com) is made of an antioxidant rich formula that has a potent blend of botanical sources that are known for their high levels of Vitamin C. The serum helps boost collagen and helps skin bounce back by making it firmer and more lifted. It comes in an innovative airless pump bottle that keeps air out so it maximizes the power of the product with every application. To use this serum, apply three pumps of the product both in the morning and at night.

My Glittery Thoughts:

So after years of saying to myself “Oh I’m only going to be out in the sun for a few minutes” and “The sun won’t hit me as hard when I’m driving!” (what a crock!), I started to develop deeper freckles and some wrinkles because of squinting in the sun a lot. Being pale and a natural red head, I’m one of the sun’s biggest targets and that didn’t clue in for me until the last couple years. I just thought I could get away with my bad habits and deal with the consequences later. After trying out these products for the past few weeks, I’m dumbfounded that I didn’t take integrating Vitamin C into my skincare routine on a regular basis seriously. I can absolutely see a difference in how my skin looked before using these products and how it looks now. I’ve noticed a bit of peeling along the way but that’s because the Vitamin C has been helping shed that damaged skin and since it’s super charged, I’ve been able to see results a lot more quickly. When you combine these two products together, you know you’re getting the absolute highest concentration of Vitamin C there is. I think it is quite genius to put the pure Vitamin C into squares that dissolve when you mix them with a bit of water and the serum. The only thing I have a tiny issue with is that the serum doesn’t smell the best but when the products do this good of a job, you don’t let smell get in the way. I’ve even used some of it on my shoulders that have seen a lot of damage as well and it has helped out tons.ย If you’ve let your skin suffer at the hands of the powerful sun, these TimeWise products are absolutely necessary for you to get closer to what your skin looked like before all of that damage showed up all over the place.

Mary Kay ClearProof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask Review

Every weekend, I love going through my mask collection and picking one out, then settling down with a good book while it does its thing. With it being summer, I often gravitate towards masks that clear out my pores or better yet, a charcoal mask. One pore cleansing mask I’ve been loving is the Mary Kay ClearProof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask.

Mary Kay ClearProof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask Review

The ClearProof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask is a triple action mask that acts like a magnetic to do a deep clean of your pores. It contains active charcoal which can bind up to double its weight to remove pore clogging impurities, mineral clay ingredients kaolin and bentonite, which boost the mask’s absorbency, honeysuckle and navy bean extracts help improve the appearance of skin discoloration, and extracts of rosemary and peppermint give your skin a fresh scent and cooling sensation. The formula is clinically shown to absorb oil in an instant and reduce shine.

My Glittery Thoughts:

I hate having gunked up pores and when it gets really hot outside, it makes my skin feel disgusting and this charcoal mask works wonders with reviving my skin and making it look fresh and clean. I love the peppermint scent and the fact that it doesn’t completely dry out my skin either. Anyone can use it if you’re looking for something to get rid of black heads and clear our your pores. If your skin is acne-prone or very oily, you can use the mask 2-3 times a week which is great. I really enjoy using charcoal masks in the summer because they always work wonders in clearing out and brightening my skin. The tube makes it easy to multi-mask as well if you’re looking to reap the benefits from several masks at once. If you haven’t tried a charcoal mask before or are looking for a really good one, you need to give this one a try!

Mary Kay Summer 2017 Collection

Mary Kay, Review
Mary Kay Summer 2017 Collection

This summer, 90s influenced makeup is still going strong with lots of browns and earthy tones showing up in tons of collections. But, there’s still tons of shimmer to go around! Mary Kay took the summer’s best on trend shades and brought them together for their Summer 2017 collection.

Mary Kay Summer 2017 CollectionThe Limited Edition Summertime Jewel Look is comprised of soft, warm and sultry shades featuring three mineral eye colours in Sweet Cream, Hazelnut and Emerald, a mineral cheek colour in Sunny Spice, an eyeliner in MK Black, and a Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in Mauve Moment. The set retails for $89 and has a $97 value.

Limited Edition Summertime Jewel Look‘s ($23) come in two shades – Giving Heart, a rosy pink, and Kind Heart, a pale peach that can be used as a highlighter. The purchase of each Baked Cheek Powder benefits the Mary Kay Foundation and its support of women’s shelters and survivors of domestic abuse.

My Glittery Thoughts:

The stand outs for me in this collection are the Beauty That Counts Baked Cheek Powders. They are gorgeous and make my skin glow which is exactly what I want in a summer look. The compact is a cute little set that’s good for travelling and the shades can be popped out and switched with other eyeshadows or blushes. I would’ve liked to see the Emerald shade be a bit brighter and more pigmented since it is pretty light. However, if you’re a fan of neutrals, you will like the addition of the green because it acts like a neutral. The lipstick is a pretty shade of mauvy pink that has a creamy feel that isn’t matte but is very comfortable to wear. If you’re looking for a set of everything you would need to create an modern 90’s look, the Summertime Jewel Look set is a great option. But if you love your shimmers and anything that glows, I would highly recommend the baked cheek powders!
