OPI California Dreaming Summer 2017 Review

Wow, how long has it been since I’ve done a nail post? I love painting my nails and everything but it’s a lot of work to paint them several colours for a collection review! But the OPI California Dreaming Summer 2017 collection was too good to pass up on.

Price: $13.50 for classic nail lacquers & $16.95 for Infinite Shine colours / Available at Hudson’s Bay & professional salons

OPI California Dreaming Summer 2017 ReviewFrom L-R: Barking Up the Wrong Sequoia – nude peach, Sweet Carmel Sunday – metallic bronze, Don’t Take Yosemite For Granite – metallic steel grey

My Glittery Thoughts:

Although this is a summer collection, I think a lot of these polishes can easily work in the fall/winter. Santa Monica Beach Peach reminds me of the colour of a pumpkin and shades like This is Not Whine Country and To the Mouse House We Go! are great shades to wear in the cooler months. A couple of the polish formulas were a bit sheer with the shades To the Mouse House We Go! and This is Not Whine Country, so it took a bit more polish to make them more opaque, while the other shades were very smooth and opaque with just one coat. I think this collection is an interesting mix of shades and not exactly what I would picture a California collection to be comprised of but I still enjoy a lot of the colours. I like that they added a couple metallic shades but it would’ve been nice to maybe see something with a bit of sparkle to emulate the twinkling Hollywood lights. Don’t you think?! Or some greens and blues would’ve been nice to see to represent the luscious palm trees and ocean but that’s just my opinion. If you like pinks, oranges and nudes, you will love what California Dreaming has to offer.

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection Review

Who loves nudes?! Nude nail polish I mean! πŸ˜‰ I have a soft spot for a beautiful nude nail that elongates and makes your fingers look so glamorous. The new OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection is all about glamorous, nude nails in pretty much every neutral colour with impeccable shine to compliment every skin tone out there.

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection ReviewL-R: No Strings Attached, No Stopping Zone, Hurry Up & Wait

The Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection includes a mix of blush, beige, pink and peach neutral shades that were inspired by the summer collections of designers like Fendi, Oscar de la Renta, and Elie Saab. OPI decided to develop those muted colours seen on the runways into a set of six new limited edition Infinite Shine no light-lacquer shades for us to enjoy this summer. They are part of a 3-step system, which includes the Infinite Shine base coat primer and top coat gloss. They promote long wearing colour and shine that makes your nails look like you’ve had them done professionally.

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection ReviewL-R: No Strings Attached – pale blush pink, No Stopping Zone – pale dusty rose, Hurry Up & Wait – pale tan nude

My Thoughts:

OPI never seems to let me down with its collections. I love the range of nude polishes and that there really is something for everyone to enjoy. I applied two coats of each colour and didn’t use the primer or top coat and the colours still look beautifully glossy. There were no streaks or difficulty with applying any of the polishes but if you really want to maximize the wear time and gloss, I would suggest applying the primer and top coat as well. You can still get decent wear time with the polishes on their own but I find that the top coat adds a bit of a protective shell to the colours so chipping doesn’t happen for at least a week.

I love the variances in each colour and how just a slight difference can really change the look and feel of your nails. Staying Neutral on This One is a livelier pink compared to No Strings Attached, so if you want more of a muted pink then the latter is your best bet. No Stopping Zone is a really dusty rose that can look tan under different light which is cool. My favourite nude would have to be Hurry Up & Wait because it’s the perfect nude for a pale girl but also has enough of a tan shade to it to give my skin some warmth. If you’re a fan of sexy nude nails with a glossy shine, you will absolutely want to pick up every colour in this collection!

OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection Review

Banana, creamsicle and strawberry popsicles. These flavours easily remind me of the fun, summery colours in the OPI Retro Summer 2016 collection.

OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection ReviewThe ultimate vacation from drab and dull colours, OPI‘s new Retro Summer collection offers vintage style colours that are a throwback to fashions from way back when like swimsuits with structural silhouettes, crop tops, cut outs and the return of the waist. These sky-drenched colours are perfect for wearing while relaxing in a seaside resort along the French Riviera, or day dreaming about being there like I do.

OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection Review From L-R: What’s the Double Scoop? – pale pastel pink, Sailing & Nail-ing – pale robin’s egg blue, Flip Flops & Crop Tops – strawberry pink
OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection ReviewFrom L-R: SPF XXX – medium orange, I’m Getting a Tan-gerine – light peachy orange, Towel Me About It – light sunny yellow

My Thoughts:

There isn’t anything better than bright, creamy pale hues like the ones in this collection. There’s nothing “old time-y” about this collection – all of the colours are very flattering and youthful. Every polish applied so creamy and opaque, without any issues. They remind me of yummy popsicle shades and are an instant pick-me-up for your nails which is why I love wearing them. The standouts for me are I’m Getting a Tan-gerine, Sailing & Nail-ing and Towel Me About It, however all of them are amazing anyways. If you love summery polishes in creamy, pale and punchy hues, you need to get a hold of this collection!
