PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes: Do They Compare to Stila Glitter & Glow Shadows?

PUR, Review
PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes

I’m so happy that glitter has made a big comeback in the past year thanks to Stila‘s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. So, you know I have to compare anything that’s similar in any way to Stila because they made such an amazing product. That’s exactly what I wanted to do when I set my sights on the PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes. I also saw Kristi from RawBeautyKristi on YouTube rave about them in one of her videos and that convinced me even more to get them since she’s one of my favourite YouTubers.

The Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes were released as a 5-piece kit late last year and are comprised of highly pigmented glitter eyeshadows that are a 3-in-1 product that come with a built-in eyeshadow base and primer that ensures the shadows won’t crease or fade. The flexible paddle applicator makes it easy to apply the shadows when you’re on the go.

So, how do they compare to Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows?

PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye PolishesTop Row from L-R: Namaslay – light rose gold, Lust – rosy cranberry with gold shimmer
Bottom Row from L-R: OMG – bronze brown with silver and bronze shimmer, Queenie – yellow gold, Midnight Diamond – dark brown with bronze and silver shimmer

The formula of the Quick Pro Glitters is quite liquidy, to the point where you have to be careful when pulling out the applicator because droplets of the liquid eyeshadow will make a mess if you’re not prepared for it, like I was initially. As you can see in the swatches, since the formula is liquidy, it takes longer for the eyeshadows to dry down and set. They are also a little goopy when you apply them which means you definitely need to smooth out the shadows with your finger or a flat brush in order to get a smooth, even finish. Compared to Stila’s Glitter & Glow, I find Stila’s brush really controls the application process well while the silicone paddle with the Quick Pro Glitters does not hold onto the product well, since it is quite liquidy, so you have to work with it fast so it doesn’t drip everywhere. When smoothed over with your finger or a flat brush, the glitters are really sparkly and beautiful but the coloured base isn’t there as much as it is with Stila. The effect is still glittery but a bit softer.

Also, the Quick Pro Glitters come off really easily with water (so be careful about wearing them anywhere that you may get wet), whereas I do have to attack my lids with a good makeup remover to get the Stila eyeshadows off completely. I think Quick Pro Glitters came close to Glitter & Glow but there are a lot of differences that gives Stila the edge that maintains them as my favourite liquid glitter eyeshadows. If you’re a newbie and want to dive into glitter eyeshadows for the first time and want to try something that’s very easy to wear and not too bold, you will probably like what PUR has to offer. But if you’re looking for something that compares to Stila, I still haven’t found it yet, but I will definitely let you know when I do!

PUR Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Foundation & Brush

PUR, PΓΌr Minerals, Review

When it comes to my ideal summer foundation, two words come to mind: flawless and long-lasting. I like wearing something with a bit more coverage in the summer that isn’t too heavy and still makes me look fresh, while it HAS to be long-lasting. I was introduced to PUR‘s Bare It All Skin-Perfecting Foundation & Brush a few months ago and they have been my go-to for a flawless face.

PUR Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Foundation & Brush ReviewThe Skin Perfecting Foundation Brush brings back my love for oval brushes. It can be used on the face and body to give you the perfect application for a stunning look.

My Glittery Thoughts:

It was briefly mentioned before but I love this foundation and, of course, the brush! My face looks completely flawless when I put it on and the demi-matte finish is great at giving me a medium coverage, mattified glow. The shade I’ve been using is Porcelain which is a bit on the warm side. It could be a little lighter and more neutral since the next shade up from Porcelain is quite different and darker. However, it works well on my skintone and gives it a nice subtle warmth. And boy, does it work well at fighting off the elements to give you outstanding coverage for at least 12 hours. The tube itself might look a little small but I like that a little goes a long way and it doesn’t require any touch ups throughout the day. The oval brush is an added bonus because I’ve been loving using either a blending sponge or an oval brush to apply my foundations and this brush feels like heaven and really smooths on the foundation leaving it looking flawless. The price might be a bit steep for both products but they do an amazing job at making your skin look almost airbrushed and you can’t beat something that stays put even through the humidity.

PUR Vanity Palettes in Dream Chaser & Goal Digger Review

PUR Vanity Palettes in Dream Chaser & Goal Digger Review

I try to wake up early and dedicate more time to my makeup looks for work, but sleep usually wins. So when I put my face together, I like something that has everything I need in one palette. I went to a PUR makeup event a couple months ago and they shared a couple new products called the Vanity Palettes in Dream Chaser and Goal Digger for Eyes and Cheeks that help take care of that exact problem.

PUR Vanity Palettes in Dream Chaser & Goal Digger ReviewPUR’s vanity palettes are just right for those with an active or busy lifestyle. They contain four eyeshadows, one cheek blush, a bronzer and an illuminator that can easily take your look from day to night. They also come with an oversized mirror that pops up and acts like your own vanity mirror, so you won’t have to struggle holding a mirror as you do your makeup. One palette is called Dream Chaser and has a nice mix of brown shadows, a pale peachy illuminator, soft pink blush and light bronzer, while the other palette is called Goal Digger and is filled with smoky shadows, a pale champagne illuminator, rosy pink blush and golden brown bronzer. All of PUR’s products are cruelty free, paraben free, gluten free and BPA free.

Price: $49.00 ea. / Available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart & online at beautyboutique.ca

Top Row from L-R: Glow Getter – light champagne nude illuminator, Aim High – pale cream shadow, 24/7 – dark violet shadow
Bottom Row from L-R: Glambition – light rosy pink blush, Motivation – medium golden brown bronzer, No Limit – light shimmery silver, Grind – dark shimmery charcoal grey shadow

My Glittery Thoughts:

I love how the palettes are smaller than a CD but hold enough to pretty much create a complete look. You can use either to create a look for daytime or night but Goal Digger is obviously suited to give you something more dramatic because it contains a shimmery silver and dark grey while Dream Chaser has neutral satin shadows that can help you easily create a work appropriate look. In terms of what palette I get the most out of, I’m more of a fan of the Dream Chaser palette because the blush, bronzer and illuminator work well with my skin tone, along with the shadows, while with Goal Digger, I’d have to go in really lightly with the blush to soften it up and the bronzer is a bit too dark for me. But I love the shimmeryness of the silver and dark grey shades and when you combine them with the violet, you get a stunning effect. One of the biggest things that stood out to me about these palettes is their mirrors. I love how they pop up and stay in place, while you work around them as you apply the colours and the compact itself is really light weight. Plus, I think the names of the colours are really fun and motivating. The palettes themselves cost a bit but you can pretty much create a complete look for the price, and I think the mirror alone is worth it. These palettes are perfect for anyone on the go, whether they are travelling or have little time in the morning before work to get ready and want a neutral makeup look or something with more pizazz, these palettes will get you there!
