I went to a Revlon event over a month or so ago and left with a bunch of fun, new (to me) goodies to try out. Some of the products are new and some aren’t but I wanted to share a little bit about them and my thoughts after testing each product to let you know what some of the highlights and lowlights are.
First, let’s talk about their eye products! Revlon has come out with the ColorStay Brow Crayon ($9.50 / Available at Walmart & Mass Retailers), which comes in four shades (Dark Brown is featured here) and offers long wearing colour (up to 24 hours) that defines and shapes your brows in a single sweep. Then, we’ve got the new ColorStay 2 in 1 Angled Kajal that also comes in four shades (Onyx is featured here) which come in a waterproof formula in an angled kajal tip on one side and a smudge brush on the other so you can smoke out the liner before it sets.

Next is the ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow that come in 12 luxurious colours (Praline 730 is featured here) that come with a built in brush for a mess-free application that lasts up to 24 hours.

For the lips, we have the ColorStay Lip Liner ($9 / Available at Walmart & Mass Retailers) in Red, which also comes in eight other colours, and adds a defined, long lasting look to you lips that doesn’t feather or bleed. The ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipsticks ($11.50 / Available at Walmart & Mass Retailers) offer a velvety smooth formula that contains shea butter and aloe that come in 20 shades (Muse is featured here) that last through dinner and drinks.

Last but not least, Revlon has launched a set of luxurious brushes that are uniquely designed for the ultimate professional application with their comfortable diamond grip handles and ExpertFX brush heads. I was able to get my hands on the Blending Brush ($19.99 / Available at Walmart & Mass Retailers), a dual fiber brush that provides a steak-free, even application.
My Glittery Thoughts:
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Revlon ColorStay products and have tried a couple things before from them so it was exciting to see how long wearing these products really are. I love creme eyeshadows and how well the ColorStay one wears. It’s easy to blend once you lay it down but it sets pretty quickly, so you have to work fast. I’m definitely interested in picking up more neutral shades because I like how long they make my eye makeup last. I’m not a fan of the brush it comes with because it’s a little scratchy so I prefer using my own brushes with it. I’m a fan of the fun fuchsia pink Ultimate Suede lipstick. It goes on really creamy at first so I wasn’t sure about it lasting long initially but it blew me away with how well it wears even though it doesn’t dry down fully. It’s very comfortable and moisturizing but still smudge proof, which I love. I think both the lip liner and the kajal liner are nice and very pigmented but you have to work quickly with them. The lip liner is a little drying and I prefer putting it down all over my lips so when whatever lipstick I’m wearing comes off, I won’t be left with a weird red ring around my lips.
Unfortunately, there were some products that didn’t work as well for me. I was really looking forward to the Blending Brush but found out very quickly that it sheds pretty badly and I kept having to pick the hairs off my face as I was using the brush. The other product that disappointed was the Brow Crayon. Aside from it being too dark for me, the crayon is way too creamy and slides everywhere. I couldn’t set it with powder without having to take it off and put something else on my brows instead. Brow pencils and crayons need to have a bit of dryness to them so they can stay in place and adhere to your brows, which I unfortunately didn’t get with this one.
I’m definitely interested in picking up a couple more creme eyeshadows and possible some lipsticks because they were very easy to apply and wear. Have you guys tried any of these products out for yourself?! I’d love to know your thoughts!
What do you think of these new (to me) products from Revlon that I tested out? Any faves? Share your thoughts below!

The struggle to find a mascara that meets all of your needs is usually next to impossible which is why a lot of us use multiple mascaras. But these formulas normally don’t jive together all that well because they’re made by different brands and in different ways. So, Revlon had the smart idea to come out with a new mascara collection for 2016 that gives you 5 brand new mascaras that offer different benefits that can be used individually or combined!
The Ultimate All-in-One comes with 5 lash transforming benefits with one mini brush that tackles every single lash. These benefits include volume, length, definition, lift and intense colour. The mini brush comes with a hollow core that allows for the mascara to deposit the maximum amount of colour to your lashes and the mascara itself comes in black brown, black and blackest black.
The Super Length mascara is pretty self explanatory. It’s a soft, buildable mascara that leaves your lashes looking long and plush and the brush comes with a tapered end so you can hit smaller lashes. It also comes in both waterproof and non-water proof formulas as well as in black brown, black and blackest black.
Left Eye: One coat of Super Length on top lashes, one coat of All-in-One on bottom lashes
Right Eye: One coat of each mascara on top and bottom lashes
In most cases, when I combine two mascaras, my lashes look frightening but these mascaras are truly compatible with each other and I love it. The mascaras on their own, though, are great as well. Super Length is a more natural lengthening mascara than what I’m used to, so I’ve been using it a lot for work because it still defines my lashes without making them too dark. But, I think the All-in-One mascara is my favourite. The brush is the perfect size for coating my bottom lashes and those hard-to-reach ones in the outer corners of my eyes, without getting globs of mascara on my skin. I usually go for the minimal makeup look for work or when I don’t have anything planned and these mascaras achieve the minimalistic look but with more definition and pop.
What do you think of the Revlon 2016 mascara collection? Have you tried any of them out? If so, which one is your fave?! Share your thoughts!

Ah, makeup. Those products that never let you down and make you look and feel great no matter how chubby or ugly you feel. The following products really made me feel and look my best in 2014. Some of these products have holy grail status for me and I will literally cry when I hit pan. As with my Best of Face Care post, I’ve chosen a couple products for each category, with some of them showcasing my favourite drugstore product as well as a higher end product. And some just have two products with not much of a price difference, but both really made an impact on me.
1. Best Primers – Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer (reviewed here) / SKINDINAVIA The Makeup Primer Spray (reviewed here): Enlarged pores hasn’t been one of my skin concerns, but I think it’s amazing that the Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer helps diffuse even the look of fine lines. I love its soft texture and easy blendability, along with it’s HD and long lasting results. For all of my quick makeup looks, I go for SKINDINAVIA’s The Makeup Primer Spray. Its spray formula is different but the results are just as amazing as any top notch primer. I love that I get that dewy, long lasting effect and its extremely lightweight feel. 2. Best Foundations – Eve Pearl Pro Palette HD Foundation / COVERGIRL TruBlend Foundation: My Eve Pearl HD Pro Palette has hit it out of the ballpark for me in terms of helping me create a super flawless face. The HD Foundations are just as amazing as the EP Salmon Concealers (which it also contains) and I can use them to contour and highlight, or as Eve Pearl likes to call it, “reverse contouring”. On the more budget friendly side is COVERGIRL’s TruBlend Foundation. I have a couple shades that I rotate and really love the expansion of colour variety the revamped foundation line has. 3. Best Tinted Moisturizer & BB Cream – Garnier Ultra Lift Transformer Skin Corrector / Vichy Idealia BB Cream(reviewed here): Vichy Idealia BB Cream and newcomer to my collection, Garnier’s Ultra Lift Transformer provides me with a hydrated and even complexion, when I’m on the go that customizes its colour to adjust to my skin tone as soon as I put it on. Vichy’s Idealia BB Cream helps even me out as well as helps fight signs of aging to give me an illuminated complexion that looks amazing. 4. Best Powders – Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Cameo / Urban Minerals Loose Mineral Foundation (reviewed here): I picked loose powders for this category because the finish is beyond compare. Ben Nye’s Luxury Powder in Cameo is one of those heaven sent powders that I wish I started using sooner. The colour is perfect for my skin tone and seals everything in, while leaving me still looking fresh and non-cakey. Urban Minerals Loose Mineral Foundation have been an amazing, new home-grown discovery. It’s natural formula and anti-inflammatory ingredients give me a really nice even complexion that I can feel good about. Although, I have to admit I’m a little scared of finishing them all up! 5. Best Concealers – COVERGIRL + Olay The De-Puffer Eye Concealer / Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-Aging Concealer: I was unaware of how much I would use the heck out of The De-Puffer Eye Concealer by COVERGIRL + Olay when I first got it. It does double duty by de-puffing my under eyes with its cooling applicator tip and the concealing coverage is great. Korres’ Anti-Aging Concealer was part of a makeup set I picked up earlier in the year, so I didn’t know this concealer would blow my mind (and dark circles away) either. This pot has, thankfully, been lasting me forever, which is a really good thing, because its high pigmentation and coverage gives me that bright-eyed, flawless finish I really love and can’t live without. It’s part of my Holy Grail list! 6. Best Blushes & Bronzers – Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow / Eve Pearl HD Blush in / Too Faced Chocolate Soleil / Eve Pearl HD Bronzer: This one is a mash up of quite of few products. Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow Blush is amazing because it gives such a beautiful rosey glow to your cheeks. Being a highlighting palette, it gives you more than just colour but an overall radiance. Eve Pearl’s blushes in the HD Pro Palette have become some of my holy grail blushes. They make my skin look phenomenal and are a breeze to apply.
I put the Too Faced Everything Nice palette because, like most other TF palettes, it houses the Chocolate Soleil bronzer. It smells delicious and applies so smoothly. I also love using the darkest cream blush in the Eve Pearl palette as a bronzer. Sometimes I underestimate the amazingness of a good cream blush/bronzer. It looks super natural and blends in so well compared to a lot of powders out there. 7. Best Eyeshadows – Powders: BH Cosmetics Party Girl Palette / Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Extreme Shimmer Shadow & Liner Palettes / Creams: Hard Candy Eye Def / ARTDECO Long Lasting Eyeshadow Pencils (reviewed here): A girl like me can’t live without her bright and bold eyeshadow colours! BH Cosmetics’ limited edition Party Girl Palette (which is still available online), is a wonder to AND for my eyes because of its range of pearly and bright selection of shadows. This palette, like pretty much all of the other BH palettes, is incredibly affordable and worth buying! Physicians Formula Extreme Shimmer shadow and liner palettes. For that rich, ultra-glam shimmery effect, they give you all of that.. and then some! This was one of my proudest discoveries of late 2014!
Speaking of glamour, I couldn’t forget to mention cream shadows because without them, most of my looks couldn’t hold that glam together! My favourites of the year are Hard Candy’s Eye Def Glitter Eyeshadow since it combines both my love for glitter and intense colour pay-off into one genius product that I can wear on its own or underneath shadows. They’re also all conveniently available at Walmart! The other cream fave of mine is ARTDECO’s Long Lasting Eyeshadow Pencils. They are so easy to work with and time-forgiving so you can blend them in just right before they set in place. The colours are rich in pigment and their twist-up capability ensures that I can take advantage of every last bit of it. 8. Best Eyeliners – Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner (reviewed here) / Annabelle Stay Sharp Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner (reviewed here) / Bonus: Revlon Photoready Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash: It may be a bit debatable to a lot of you but I do quite like Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner. The angled tip helps to form a good cat eye and although the formula is a bit stubborn and sets pretty quickly, I’ve made it work for me. Since I’ve been on a waterproof pencil kick lately, I have to give props to Annabelle for their new Stay Sharp Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner. Unlike most waterproof pencils, this one glides on beautifully to give you intense colour that is TOUGH to remove! The self-sharpening cap is really helpful for always ensuring you have a sharp eyeliner ready to go.
A bonus product for this category is Revlon’s Photoready Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash. The shimmering colour on one side, along with the glittery bling on the other makes for some really gorgeous eye liner looks. The colours available are gorgeous and my glittery heart sings everytime I play with their sparklyness. 9. Best Mascaras – Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Mascara / Lancome Grandiose Mascara (reviewed here): 2014 was a big year for my lashes with the introduction of these two mascaras. For a natural and full effect, which I’m really loving right now, I’ve been going for Revlon’s Bold Lacquer by Grow Lucious Mascara. Its an intensely black formula that gives me great length and natural volume for shining and defined look. The mecca of mascara’s in my life is none other than Lancome’s Grandiose Mascara. The swan-neck wand allows for better control of the application and the product on the bristles stretch out my lashes to unheard of lengths. I cannot live without this mascara and if you haven’t tried it, you’re MAJORLY missing out! 10. Best Brow Enhancers – Anastasia Brow Pro Palette / e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit: I’ve worked with Anastasia Brow Powder’s for a while and they have always been a favourite of mine. Since I started using the Brow Pro Palette, I’ve fallen for the powders even more because there is a greater selection to choose from. e.l.f.’s Eyebrow Kit is an amazing budget friendly resource for getting defined, beautiful arches. I’m a huge fan of the wax and powder combination that make your brows look really AH-MAZING! 11. Best Lipsticks – Inglot Freedom System Matte Lipsticks / NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream: Yup, I’ve been having quite a love affair with matte lipsticks. The Inglot Freedom System Matte lipsticks have been LIFE CHANGING for me. I love how I can create quick, simple or complex lip colours and combinations with any of the colours in my palette. I’m so proud that I went with these colours to start with because they basically give me the perfect range of colours and looks I could ever want. On the budget friendly side is NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Creams which are so incredible as well. They apply like butter and stay put for a long time which is why I carry quite a few of them with me in my purse. 12. Best Glosses – Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Parisienne / NYX Cosmetics Xtreme Lip Cream: In the gloss category, these two products give me great glossy lips as well as their own bonus features. Revlon’s Colorstay Moisture Stain starts out as a gloss and later on fades into a beautiful stain that still keeps my lips hydrated, which is hard to come by with lip stains. NYX Xtreme Lip Cream packs a glossy punch as well as INTENSE pigmentation. They’re a new lip product I’ve started trying and I’ve fallen deeply under their spell! 13. Best Makeup Removers – Amie Bright Eyes Very Gentle Eye Makeup Remover / Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off! Deluxe Makeup Removal Wet Cloths: Treating my skin with the best care, I’ve been loving Amie Skincare’s Bright Eyes eye makeup remover. It’s an amazing natural makeup removing formula that gets rid of every last bit of tough eye makeup and mascara. For those lazy days, Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off! makeup removal wet cloths are my go-to. 14. Best Brushes – Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Collection / Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush: An end-of-year addition to my brush collection but had enough time to become one of my favourite brush sets to use, Real Techniques new Duo-Fibre brushes. It comes with contour, face and eye brushes that provide a beautiful air-brushed finish to every look they create. Urban Decay’s Optical Blurring Brush is my secret weapon when it comes to giving my liquid and cream foundations a flawless finish. It buffs and blurs streaks so you’re left with very natural-looking, but super flawless, skin.
This was a very long post but was very much worth putting together since I could not proceed into 2015 without sharing these great makeup products with you! Seeing as 2014 was such a great year for my makeup collection, I can only imagine what this year will bring and I’m so happy to take these products through this journey with me.
