New & Exciting Skincare Products I'm Using Right Now

Fall is the time of year when I really love testing out new products. My skin starts to get a bit more needy, so I especially love trying out new skincare products. Here are a bunch of new and exciting skincare products that I’m using right now.

New & Exciting Skincare Products I'm Using Right Now

PIXI Beauty has introduced me to double cleansing with their Double Cleanse ($24 / 2 x 50 ml / Available at Shoppers Drug Mart & PixiBeauty.com). A unique 2-in-1 cleanser created by Caroline Hirons where one side is a solid cleansing oil and the other is a luxurious cleansing cream. The solid cleansing oil contains contains vitamin e, camellia oil and evening primrose oil, and the cleansing cream contains vitamin c, peptide complex, and arginine.

My Glittery Thoughts:

If you want your skin to feel luxriously clean, you need to try double cleansing! When you’ve put on a full glam makeup look, cleansing once usually doesn’t cut it anyways. You can be sure you’ve got every bit of makeup off after you’ve first cleansed with the solid cleanser, which really helps take off mascara and other long wearing makeup, and then follow it up with the cleansing cream which soothes and makes your skin look bright and healthy.

And when long nights and lots of makeup and products have taken their toll on your skin, try a skin detox with nia’s (not into aging) Sunday Detox ($39 / 121 ml / Available at Shoppers Drug Mart). It’s a double detox containing rich clay mousse that draws out dirt and debris from pores to reduce the appearance of blackheads and then it dries to a peel-off mask that lifts away dead skin cells to give you smooth, radiant skin. It’s formulated with NIA-114™, a patented molecule that fortifies and protects skin against the impact of lifestyle stressors, and also contains white kaolin clay, bamboo charcoal powder, mango and brazilian caja extract, lentil seed extract, and chaulmoogra, black Cumin & manuka oils.

My Glittery Thoughts:

I love, love, love trying new and different masks and this one is a lot of fun to use. A little tricky at first to use so you need to make sure you apply a generous amount to your skin so it thickens up. Then all it takes is 10-15 minutes for it to dry and then it peels off really easily and makes your pores look amazing! If you have any issues with blackheads or need something to give your pores a good cleaning, this mask will work wonders on you!

The Olay Age Defying Advanced Hydrating Gel Moisturizer ($18.99 / 50 ml / Available at Mass Retailers) is a new gel moisturizer that provides 24 hours of sheer and breathable hydration for normal skin types. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and b3 vitamins to give you an energized, refreshed and hydrated appearance that lasts for 24 hours.

My Glittery Thoughts:

If you’ve got normal skin that leans a little more on the oily side, you will really like this moisturizer. It’s very lightweight, refreshing and gives your skin nice, light moisture. For me, I need a little bit more hydration right now but I think this moisturizer would work well for me in the summer.

Treat your eyes this season with the Korres Greek Yoghurt Under Eye Priming Moisturizer ($42 / 15 ml / Available at Shoppers Drug Mart). It’s an instantly cooling eye cream that moisturizes, nourishes and primes the eyes before makeup application. It calms and soothes allergy prone eyes while strengthening the area’s delicate skin with greek yoghurt concentrate that’s rich in protein and probiotics. The moisturizer improves microcirculation, reducing fat deposits to minimize puffiness and dark circles thanks to rhodiola rosea root extract and also contains sugar beet that increases and protects hydration while controlling excess fluid build up to prevent puffiness.

My Glittery Thoughts:

When I learned about this eye moisturizer, I was told it was a popular product on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, which instantly had me very eager to try it out for myself. It is for sure my new favourite eye cream to use. It really soothes, hydrates and conditions the eyes and the cream sinks into your skin perfectly so that you can apply your concealer smoothly and easily.

Last but not least is the bliss mask a-‘peel’ complexion clearing rubberizing mask ($38 / for 3 treatments / Available at blissworld.com), a peel off mask that leaves your skin instantly clearer, cleaner and shine-free. The mask hugs every contour to ensure all of the ingredients are optimally deposited to even out skin tone and texture. To activate the mask, you need to add cool water up to the line marked on the container and mix thoroughly until the texture is smooth, then apply.

My Glittery Thoughts:

I was introduced to this cool mask last year and finally got to try it recently. It’s a bit finicky at first when you mix it so you need to really make sure that it’s mixed well before you apply it or else it can get a bit clumpy. You also need to apply it evenly to your skin so you get the rubberized effect all over. Once it’s on, it feels so refreshing and the thick consistency of it is cool to peel off after its been on for 20 minutes and has fully rubberized. Even thought the complexion clearing aspect of it is not something I find is an issue with my skin, it still brightens up my skin and feels soothing when you take it off and helps treat any little blemishes.

New Skin Cleansers with Benefits

Avon, Review, Skincare Review

Long gone are the days when we were told to cleanse our faces with soap and water. Now there are so many cleansers out there that are loaded with tons of benefits for our skin that it would be ridiculous to go back to a boring bar of soap. Avon offers a range of cleansers in their Anew Clean collection that work for all skin types and will make your skin feel oh-so-good.

New Skin Cleansers with BenefitsThe Illuminating Rich Cleansing Foam ($7.99 / 150ml) works at balancing the skin and removing oil, without stripping the skin of moisture. Your skin is left looking revitalized and refreshed. The cleansing foam works best on normal or combination skin but can be used by all skin types. The Micellar Cleansing Water ($7.99 / 150ml) cleanses, tones and hydrates.. with no water or rinsing needed! It contains a Isotonic Water Complex, which draws in and maintains moisture so your skin feels softer and revitalized. It’s soap and alcohol-free and suitable for all skin types. And if you have zero time to cleanse your skin but still want to use something effective, then the Facial Cleansing Wipes ($7.99) are perfect for you. All makeup, including stubborn eye makeup, is no match for these cleansing wipes. They’re formulated with soothing edelweiss extract and are suitable for all skin types.

New Skin Cleansers with BenefitsThe Refining Daily Scrub ($7.99 / 100ml) is a powerhouse at gently exfoliating your skin to reveal brighter and more luminous skin. You can use it 1 – 3 times a week and it works on all skin types. After cleansing with any of the prior mentioned cleansers, you should follow up with the Revitalizing Toner ($7.99 / 200ml). The toner contains papaya extract and leaves skin feeling refined and conditioned, while improving the appearance of pores. It can be used by all skin types as well.

My Thoughts:

The Anew Clean collection has a cleanser for everyone and at very budget-friendly prices. I’ve been using all of the cleansers and toner and really enjoy all of the benefits they have to offer my skin. They’re soft and soothing, and make my skin feel super clean but very hydrated and revitalized. Even my husband has been enjoying the cleansers as well. I would, however, use the cleansers with caution if you have really sensitive skin because there could be some irritation.

How to Save Dry Winter Skin with Bioderma Atoderm

Bioderma, Review, Skincare Review

How to Save Dry Winter Skin with Bioderma AtodermHi Glitter Babes!

I have to admit that I have a bad habit of always washing my hands and using hand sanitizer, so I’m constantly having to reapply hand lotion. I also don’t moisturize the rest of my body as much as I should in the winter and when my legs look alligator-like is when I remind myself to lather everything up. It can feel stressful when all of your moisturizers come in small sizes that make you feel nervous to use them on a consistent basis as they’ll be empty faster than you can say Toronto. It was like someone answered my wish for bigger bottle sizing when I these two big bottles from Bioderma‘s Atoderm range landed on my beauty desk and reassured me that my dry winter skin could be saved.

How to Save Dry Winter Skin with Bioderma Atoderm Atoderm PP Balm is a highly intensive body moisturizer that prevents severe and recurring skin dryness. It contains an Écodéfensine® patented complex which regulates the skin’s ecosystem (yes our skin has its own ecosystem!) and preserves its biological balance. In simple terms, it helps protect and act like a barrier against outside stressors that can wreak havoc on our skin. It also contains a highly concentrated dose of Vitamin B3 that helps repair and strengthen the skin barrier. It’s also really good for anyone with eczema or skin itching because it calms and soothes any irritation thanks to the presence of zanthalene as one of its ingredients. So, combine that with the size of the bottle, which comes conveniently with a pump, and you’re basically set for many dry winter seasons ahead.

My Thoughts:

Hallelujah! My skin feels SO much better with this powerful duo in my skincare routine. I put the balm everywhere – on my hands, legs, arms – and I immediately started noticing a difference in my skin’s appearance. I also deal with a lot of itching, especially with my legs, and the balm calms that right down. The hydration lasts even though my multiple hand washes which is amazing too. I can also feel a difference with how my skin feels after I use the shower gel as well. Especially when I take hot showers (which is often because it’s so cold out) and the gel soothes any dryness I’m sure to feel as soon as I get out and dry off. The smell is wonderfully light and refreshing and the huge pump bottle is so convenient and will last me for a really long time. I just love, love, love these products and highly recommend them if your skin needs extra hydration and protection!
