Can you tell that I love challenges?! 😉 Bean boozled was a weird challenge that blew up a couple years ago and was never something I wanted to try out. First, I hate jelly beans and second, I didn’t see the point in eating horrible tasting jelly beans. But since starting back on YouTube I wondered if anyone had done the challenge and incorporated makeup into the fold. So, I thought, why not go for it? My amazing hubby Mike graciously volunteered to be part of it which made things even more exciting!
Have you noticed that challenge floating around where you use every colour in an eyeshadow palette? Some people even go as crazy as using 20+ shadows to create an eye look. This is a challenge that definitely challenges you to be creative and test your skills which is what I’m all about. So obviously, I had to take on the challenge myself and filmed it all for you guys!
My YouTube channel has been neglected for quite some time but I’m proud to say that I’ve been working on new videos and here’s the latest tutorial for anyone who’s going to prom soon or any special occasion for that matter! I’ve never done a dark smokey eyelook, especially in a video tutorial, and I thought it would be perfect since prom season is here!
To create the sultry, smokey grey-toned look, I used NYX’s Casting Call 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette which is a perfect palette for a smokey eyed look. A mixture of a dark silver-grey, a silver and a pop of greenish-grey were used on the lids to make them pop and the brownish-grey shade was used on the brow bone and a dark greyish-black was used to create sultriness in the outer-v area.I used NYX’s 113 lashes and a swipe of MAC’s Shy Girl and Revlon Colorburst Peony lipgloss to top it off. Of course the lookwouldn’t be complete without some bronzer and highlighting. Since this is a look for prom, setting the makeup with MAC Fix + or any other makeup setting spray is crucial to make sure the look lasts through hours of picture taking, food and dancing!
When I went to my prom, pink was pretty much the theme of the whole look. I wore a pink dress and my makeup had a lot of soft pinks in it. Looking back on it, I definitely would’ve tried something a bit more daring for my makeup like a nice smokey eye!
