Passing Down Beauty Traditions with Lip Smacker

Passing Down Beauty Traditions with Lip Smacker

I know I’ve mentioned this before in a previous post, but Lip Smacker was one of the first beauty products I found out about and started wearing. The flavours, the scents.. everything drew me in. What young girl didn’t want to collect them all and keep one (or a few) with her at all times? Now flash forward today and I can’t help but still reminisce about that time in my life and how it means more to me now than ever before. I think about it so fondly now because one day I will get to share my first beauty love with my own daughter and get her as obsessed with them as I used to be and frankly, still am.

Lip Smacker has come a long way since I discovered them in my childhood. They still have the classic lip balms like Dr. Pepper, Watermelon, Strawberry, and the list goes on, and they’ve released new balms over recent years that target young and old adults alike with their Coffee House Party Pack and launching balms in packaging that makes it necessary to buy at least 2 of so you can put one on display.

They are always staying innovative and fun with their new product lines which still gets me excited to add to my collection but also excited for when my daughter can start wearing lip balm. I’ve got quite a few years until that time comes, since she hasn’t even been born yet, but that will not stop me from introducing her to my collection and telling her all about my childhood experiences with Lip Smacker.

Passing Down Beauty Traditions with Lip Smacker

One of their new launches comes in the form of their Disney Emoji Flip Balm’s. Not only does this merge the love I have for Lip Smacker lip balms but also for Disney anything. The Disney Emoji Flip Balm’s ($4.95) feature a different emoji expression on each side of the balm that flips open to reveal a yummy flavour within and also comes with 7.4 grams of product. For instance, they have Disney princesses like Belle from Beauty and the Beast who, of course, is scented/flavoured with rose. And there is also Cinderella who has a berry scent/flavour. You can also get the Mickey & Minnie Duo ($9.49) where Mickey has a birthday/vanilla cake scent and Minnie smells like strawberries. Each one has a different scent/flavour to them and that’s another thing about them that makes them fun to collect.

The next new collection that I cannot wait to show my daughter is the new Lippy Pal Lip Balm Trio’s ($10.99). It’s an adorable collection featuring cute little animals on the packaging that contain fun flavours inside. Each of these Lippy Pal’s come from different trio’s and the pink Fox is flavoured with apples, the Panda Bear has a cream puff flavour, and the Kitten has a watermelon flavour. There really isn’t a rhyme or reason to most of the flavour and animal pairings but it just goes to show how different each one can be and how addictive they are to collect.

These are absolutely collection-building worthy and are so cute to display on your vanity or pull out of your purse. Gone are the days when lip balm used to nothing fancy to look at and just something you put on your lips and toss back quickly into your bag. Now you can show them off and have fun collecting them especially if you’re like me and love anything Disney related and anything with adorable animal packaging. This makes the experience of applying lip balm more exciting than it used to be and even though Lip Smacker balms were pretty exciting to buy and wear back when I was a kid, it’s even more exciting now because of how far the brand has come and I can’t wait to share that with my daughter. I don’t want her to grow up too quickly by getting her into makeup at a young age (even though I’m so excited and anxious to) but lip balm is something you can get a kid into before all of that because not only is it beauty related but it also gets them in the habit of starting to take care of their skin as they grow up and that is something I absolutely want to pass down to my baby girl.

What do you think of the Lip Smacker Disney Emoji Flip Balms and Lippy Pal Trio’s? If you have kids or are pregnant like me, what are some beauty traditions you have or are going to be passing down to them?! Share your thoughts below!

What's Your Sign? Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection Review

My mom introduced me to astrology when I was very young and it quickly became a huge part of my life. I would always do charts for friends/boyfriends/etc. to find out how compatible I was with these people. It also helped me discover more about myself. I’m very much an Aquarius but my rising sign is Scorpio which has a big role on my emotions and how I express them. Do any of you follow astrology?! Let me know in the comments! So, you can imagine that I’ve been LOVING the influx of astrology themed makeup collections lately. One collection in particular immediately caught my eye and it is, of course, from Wet n Wild! Their Zodiac Collection is inspired by all of the elements and the astrological signs that they cover.

There are 12 signs within each of the 4 elements, so there is A LOT for me to cover for you guys. The collection is inspired by the celestial beauty of the 12 zodiac signs and gives everyone the opportunity to express their unique personality through the stunningly curated shades that perfectly align with every star sign and their elements. Like all of Wet n Wild’s products, these products are cruelty free, gluten free, fragrance free and paraben free. They are also trying to make all of their products vegan and a lot of this collection contains vegan products. This is also launching in Walmart stores here in Canada, although I have yet to spot it.

The collection includes 12 Color Icon Lip Gloss‘s ($2.93) that deliver ultra pigmented mirror-like shine and are formulated with argan oil and macadamia oil to keep your lips soft and moisturized, as well as Vitamin E and jojoba oil which both improve and soothe your lip’s texture. All of the lip glosses are vegan except for Taurus, Libra and Pisces.

You can’t have a collection without highlighters! This collection has 5 of them and the first 4 are Mega Glo Highlighting Bar‘s ($6.93). Inspired by the elements, the highlighting bars have a very smooth formula that provides a strobing effect to your skin that blends in seamlessly and can be applied wet or dry to give you a variety of glowy effects. The Earth highlighting bar is the only one that’s vegan out of these highlighters.

The last highlighter is definitely one of the most exciting products in the collection for me and it is the MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder ($6.93) in Written in the Stars. This loose highlighting powder, made of iridescent pearls, is great for using anywhere you want to glowΒ  and has a buildable formula that blends in really smoothly for a stunning luminous sheen. It is also vegan.

My Glittery Thoughts:

What I discovered with each of the lip gloss sets for each element was that most of them featured a sheer sparkly gloss, a semi-opaque coloured gloss and a metallic glitter gloss. I think it’s a cool idea to offer a range of different finishes and looks you can achieve. So if you’re more into subtle, sheer glosses with a hint of sparkle, you’ve got a selection of choices and if you want to wear something really bold and different, you would probably love the metallic glitter glosses. The sheer glosses aren’t very sticky and easy to wear, while the semi-opaque glosses are buildable, which makes them another option for people who are too shy to wear something bold. I’ve always thought that glosses are a fun and easy way to wear colour on your lips without it feeling uncomfortable. The glitter glosses have some grit to them because of all of the glitter but man, are they stunning! I especially love the metallic glitter glosses from the Earth set.

The eyeshadow palettes are, for the most part, very stunning but I’m not a fan of how the colours are situated in each pan. Since they don’t have their own separate pans, these palettes get very messy really quickly and some of the eyeshadows are very hard to dip into because of their size. It would be more helpful if it was laid out like their regular palettes because I know I would enjoy them a lot more. The colour schemes for each palette are fun, except in the Fire palette, the two red shades that are side by side took me a really long time to figure out what their differences were. All of the shadows are metallic/shimmery, so you can’t make up a complete eye look with any of the palettes because there are no mattes included. If you don’t mind using another palette in addition to these ones, they definitely amp up your eye looks because some of the shadows are so intense and colourful, and I love using them wet or dry.

The highlighting bars are a bit of a hit/miss for me because they don’t go on as smoothly as they swatch and look a little chalky on the skin. The blue highlighter goes on like a pale icy bluish white and takes a bit to build up. All of the shades take a bit of patience and work to make them look smooth and pigmented. I absolutely love the loose highlighting powder from the Goth-o-graphic collection, so I was beyond excited to try this one out and it impressed the hell out of me. It makes your skin glow and shine like the stars, so when I want to amp up my look, I will dip into this highlighter. It can create a subtle or really glamorous highlight. The only difference between this one and the one from Goth-o-graphic, aside from the colour of course, is that it is a little bit chunkier in consistency but it still goes on very smoothly.

There is a lot to love and enjoy in this collection and if you love astrology, like me, the lip glosses are not one to miss and the loose highlighting powder is stunning, and if don’t mind some products that take a bit of work to play with, picking up an eyeshadow palette or highlighting bar or two aren’t a bad idea to pick up either πŸ™‚

4 New & Exciting Product Launches from It Cosmetics!

IT Cosmetics will always have a special place in my heart. I always get excited when a new product of theirs launches here in Canada. Not only was there one but several new and exciting product launches from both their makeup and skincare lines that had me DYING to try them out!

4 New & Exciting Product Launches from It Cosmetics!

First exciting new launch is their Miracle Water 3-in-1 Micellar Cleanser ($48 / 250ml). I’ve gotten more and more into trying out new and different cleansers, so this product got me really excited when I first heard about it. It’s a clinically advanced, skin brightening and radiance booster, as well as anti-aging treatment essence and skin softening micellar cleanser. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restores the skin’s appearance, as well as removes makeup, dirt, oil and impurities all in a single step. It’s formulated with their Secret Sauce (a perfect compliment to the next product I will be sharing), which is a fermented complex of 7 key fermented ingredients that increase absorbency and maximize efficacy of your serums and moisturizers. It’s alcohol-free and all skin types can use it as either a second cleanse or on its own in place of your regular cleanser.

Following up from that is the Secret Sauce Clinically Advanced Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer ($88 / 60 ml). It’s a luxurious moisturizer containing powerful fermented ingredients that helps you reveal radiant, younger looking skin in an instant and keeps improving the look of your skin over time. It features collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, licorice root, which all help reduce discoloration, lines and wrinkles. It helps you create an extremely saturated, super black flawless lines that won’t budge or smudge.

The Superhero Liner has the perfect side kick with the Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara ($32 / 9 g). My Glittery Thoughts:

As you probably expect, I’m in love with the Secret Sauce moisturizer and Miracle Water. The Miracle Water is extremely effective at cleansing my face and removing all of my makeup without drying out or irritating my skin. It also leaves my skin looking a little more even and brighter, which is why I like using it before I put on my makeup as well. The moisturizer is very hydrating and is amazing at giving my skin the hydration it needs and sucks up the second I put it on. I actually prefer it a bit more than the Confidence in a Cream moisturizer because I feel like it offers more hydration and my skin looks a bit better with Secret Sauce on it. I think it’s a great moisturizer, although very much on the pricey side, for dry skin because of how well it hydrates and plumps up your skin. My skin looks better when I pair both products together, looks less dull and uneven, and in an all around healthier looking condition.

When I first tried the Superhero mascara, I was not a fan. It can go on really thick if you’re not careful and don’t slowly build it up. But I tried to give it a fair shot and use it a bit more which is when I started liking it a bit more. It does help thicken and volumize your lashes and has a bit of a tendency to flake a little throughout the day. But overall I like how it builds my lashes up and makes them look long and more defined. The Superhero liner is stunning and so very easy to work with and apply. You can make lines that are thin or thick and it dries down pretty quickly and has a bit of a shine to its finish. You can get a lot of colour and lines out of one stroke without having to shake up the pen again, which I really like. The colour goes on smooth and is very buildable so you can leave it looking like a softer black or very dark. Unfortunately it’s not waterproof, so if you’re someone who often gets emotional (due to pregnancy hormones like me) or likes being outside in the heat, any sweat or water will break down the liner and you will be left with something that is not so pretty to look at. So I prefer to use it when I’m not gonna be in any humidity (and I’m feeling pretty good in general) so it stays in tact.

What do you think of the new product launches from IT Cosmetics? Have you tried any of these out?! Share your thoughts below!
