Jeffree Star Platinum Ice Pro Palette Review

Jeffree Star may not be the most likeable person out there, but there’s no denying that his makeup line is really stunning and full of beautiful, quality products that come in some of the most gorgeous packaging. For Christmas, my hubby gifted me with most of the Holiday Glitter Collection which included the Platinum Ice Pro Palette. I’ve heard so many great things about his Skin Frosts, so I knew a palette was the way to go in order to really get a taste of what they’re like.

Jeffree Star Platinum Ice Pro Palette Review

The Platinum Ice Skin Frost Pro Palette features 6 cool-toned iridescent pressed highlighters, which includes 1 highlight topper. You can use the shades alone or layered together to give you the perfect wintery glow for your eyes, face and body. The highlighters are very pigmented, can be used wet or dry and a little goes a long way because this palette doesn’t play when it comes to making you shine like the gods. It’s also vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, talc free and gluten free.

The Swatches:

Jeffree Star Platinum Ice Pro Palette Review

Top Row from L-R: Ice Cold – cream white, Glacier – silvery white, Lavender Snow – icy lavender white
Bottom Row from L-R: Alien Ice – pale white green, Pink Chill – pale icy pink, Canary Bling – pale gold

My Glittery Thoughts:

As I mentioned before, these highlighters didn’t come to play! The top row of highlighters are VERY pigmented and a bit flaky but the colour and overall glow goes on smoothly and stunningly. The bottom row are what I would refer to as softer highlighters that don’t give as much POW compared to the top ones but they still give a beautiful, colourful shine to the skin. I would use them for a subtler highlight or added on top of an eyeshadow or a more pigmented highlight to give it a more iridescent finish. So if you’re afraid of wearing a highlighter that’s very bold, you can always use the top row as eyeshadows and use the bottom row as your highlighters. You can even add them to your body when you’re showing some skin and want to make yourself look like a goddess. I will be using this palette for anything and everything and love the effect of both the intense and more subtle highlighters. This palette has definitely convinced me to get another one and I look forward to getting the 24 Karat Pro Palette for my birthday. I’m really looking forward to finding out how blindingly pigmented and glowy those shades are!

PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes: Do They Compare to Stila Glitter & Glow Shadows?

PUR, Review
PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes

I’m so happy that glitter has made a big comeback in the past year thanks to Stila‘s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. So, you know I have to compare anything that’s similar in any way to Stila because they made such an amazing product. That’s exactly what I wanted to do when I set my sights on the PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes. I also saw Kristi from RawBeautyKristi on YouTube rave about them in one of her videos and that convinced me even more to get them since she’s one of my favourite YouTubers.

The Quick Pro Glitters Eye Polishes were released as a 5-piece kit late last year and are comprised of highly pigmented glitter eyeshadows that are a 3-in-1 product that come with a built-in eyeshadow base and primer that ensures the shadows won’t crease or fade. The flexible paddle applicator makes it easy to apply the shadows when you’re on the go.

So, how do they compare to Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows?

PUR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters Eye PolishesTop Row from L-R: Namaslay – light rose gold, Lust – rosy cranberry with gold shimmer
Bottom Row from L-R: OMG – bronze brown with silver and bronze shimmer, Queenie – yellow gold, Midnight Diamond – dark brown with bronze and silver shimmer

The formula of the Quick Pro Glitters is quite liquidy, to the point where you have to be careful when pulling out the applicator because droplets of the liquid eyeshadow will make a mess if you’re not prepared for it, like I was initially. As you can see in the swatches, since the formula is liquidy, it takes longer for the eyeshadows to dry down and set. They are also a little goopy when you apply them which means you definitely need to smooth out the shadows with your finger or a flat brush in order to get a smooth, even finish. Compared to Stila’s Glitter & Glow, I find Stila’s brush really controls the application process well while the silicone paddle with the Quick Pro Glitters does not hold onto the product well, since it is quite liquidy, so you have to work with it fast so it doesn’t drip everywhere. When smoothed over with your finger or a flat brush, the glitters are really sparkly and beautiful but the coloured base isn’t there as much as it is with Stila. The effect is still glittery but a bit softer.

Also, the Quick Pro Glitters come off really easily with water (so be careful about wearing them anywhere that you may get wet), whereas I do have to attack my lids with a good makeup remover to get the Stila eyeshadows off completely. I think Quick Pro Glitters came close to Glitter & Glow but there are a lot of differences that gives Stila the edge that maintains them as my favourite liquid glitter eyeshadows. If you’re a newbie and want to dive into glitter eyeshadows for the first time and want to try something that’s very easy to wear and not too bold, you will probably like what PUR has to offer. But if you’re looking for something that compares to Stila, I still haven’t found it yet, but I will definitely let you know when I do!

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette Review + A Quick Update

Kevyn Aucoin, Review
Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hey glitter babes, I’m back!

I took a bit over a month off from blogging and social media because December was one of the worst months of my life. I felt like my world was crashing down around me and I had nothing to look forward to anymore. It really messed up the holidays which is a time of the year that I really cherish, so I didn’t celebrate it as much as I have in the past. I will tell you guys more about what happened in a future post when I’m ready, but for now I just wanted to tell you why I have been away for so long.

And back to the review!

Kevyn Aucoin was the first makeup artist that truly opened my eyes to the world of makeup artistry. When my mom bought me his book “Making Faces”, it changed my life and I was totally obsessed with it. I’ve wanted to buy something from his new makeup line but nothing really stood out until this palette came along. Fortunately, I was gifted the Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette for Christmas and wanted to share this beautiful palette with you guys!

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette Review

Kevyn Aucoin’s Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition palette that will help you create an endless amount of 3D chromatic looks and fun effects from light, sheer shimmer to highly metallic and opaque finishes. The shadows combine a mix of pop pearls and pigments to give you a stunning multidimensional look that has a weightless feel to it.

My Glittery Thoughts:

Holy metallics! These eyeshadows are very buttery and when swatched, they are so soft that they flake a bit. You do not, however get any matte transition shades with this palette so it’s definitely not an all-in-one palette but it’s still a lot of fun to use. In order to get the most out of it, you’ll have to use your fingers for maximum colour pay off. You can use brushes to apply these shades, but since they have that buttery, almost wet feel to them, they apply a bit more sheer and not as vibrant as they are when applied with your fingers. I love using this palette to amplify a look created with another palette and give it that extra pop of colour. These colours look the most amazing on the lids and can be used for a variety of looks since you not only get bright shades but also neutrals in there too. So, if you love colour and vibrant metallic, buttery shades, you will enjoy this palette as much as I do!
