What's Your Sign? Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection Review

My mom introduced me to astrology when I was very young and it quickly became a huge part of my life. I would always do charts for friends/boyfriends/etc. to find out how compatible I was with these people. It also helped me discover more about myself. I’m very much an Aquarius but my rising sign is Scorpio which has a big role on my emotions and how I express them. Do any of you follow astrology?! Let me know in the comments! So, you can imagine that I’ve been LOVING the influx of astrology themed makeup collections lately. One collection in particular immediately caught my eye and it is, of course, from Wet n Wild! Their Zodiac Collection is inspired by all of the elements and the astrological signs that they cover.

There are 12 signs within each of the 4 elements, so there is A LOT for me to cover for you guys. The collection is inspired by the celestial beauty of the 12 zodiac signs and gives everyone the opportunity to express their unique personality through the stunningly curated shades that perfectly align with every star sign and their elements. Like all of Wet n Wild’s products, these products are cruelty free, gluten free, fragrance free and paraben free. They are also trying to make all of their products vegan and a lot of this collection contains vegan products. This is also launching in Walmart stores here in Canada, although I have yet to spot it.

The collection includes 12 Color Icon Lip Gloss‘s ($2.93) that deliver ultra pigmented mirror-like shine and are formulated with argan oil and macadamia oil to keep your lips soft and moisturized, as well as Vitamin E and jojoba oil which both improve and soothe your lip’s texture. All of the lip glosses are vegan except for Taurus, Libra and Pisces.

You can’t have a collection without highlighters! This collection has 5 of them and the first 4 are Mega Glo Highlighting Bar‘s ($6.93). Inspired by the elements, the highlighting bars have a very smooth formula that provides a strobing effect to your skin that blends in seamlessly and can be applied wet or dry to give you a variety of glowy effects. The Earth highlighting bar is the only one that’s vegan out of these highlighters.

The last highlighter is definitely one of the most exciting products in the collection for me and it is the MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder ($6.93) in Written in the Stars. This loose highlighting powder, made of iridescent pearls, is great for using anywhere you want to glowย  and has a buildable formula that blends in really smoothly for a stunning luminous sheen. It is also vegan.

My Glittery Thoughts:

What I discovered with each of the lip gloss sets for each element was that most of them featured a sheer sparkly gloss, a semi-opaque coloured gloss and a metallic glitter gloss. I think it’s a cool idea to offer a range of different finishes and looks you can achieve. So if you’re more into subtle, sheer glosses with a hint of sparkle, you’ve got a selection of choices and if you want to wear something really bold and different, you would probably love the metallic glitter glosses. The sheer glosses aren’t very sticky and easy to wear, while the semi-opaque glosses are buildable, which makes them another option for people who are too shy to wear something bold. I’ve always thought that glosses are a fun and easy way to wear colour on your lips without it feeling uncomfortable. The glitter glosses have some grit to them because of all of the glitter but man, are they stunning! I especially love the metallic glitter glosses from the Earth set.

The eyeshadow palettes are, for the most part, very stunning but I’m not a fan of how the colours are situated in each pan. Since they don’t have their own separate pans, these palettes get very messy really quickly and some of the eyeshadows are very hard to dip into because of their size. It would be more helpful if it was laid out like their regular palettes because I know I would enjoy them a lot more. The colour schemes for each palette are fun, except in the Fire palette, the two red shades that are side by side took me a really long time to figure out what their differences were. All of the shadows are metallic/shimmery, so you can’t make up a complete eye look with any of the palettes because there are no mattes included. If you don’t mind using another palette in addition to these ones, they definitely amp up your eye looks because some of the shadows are so intense and colourful, and I love using them wet or dry.

The highlighting bars are a bit of a hit/miss for me because they don’t go on as smoothly as they swatch and look a little chalky on the skin. The blue highlighter goes on like a pale icy bluish white and takes a bit to build up. All of the shades take a bit of patience and work to make them look smooth and pigmented. I absolutely love the loose highlighting powder from the Goth-o-graphic collection, so I was beyond excited to try this one out and it impressed the hell out of me. It makes your skin glow and shine like the stars, so when I want to amp up my look, I will dip into this highlighter. It can create a subtle or really glamorous highlight. The only difference between this one and the one from Goth-o-graphic, aside from the colour of course, is that it is a little bit chunkier in consistency but it still goes on very smoothly.

There is a lot to love and enjoy in this collection and if you love astrology, like me, the lip glosses are not one to miss and the loose highlighting powder is stunning, and if don’t mind some products that take a bit of work to play with, picking up an eyeshadow palette or highlighting bar or two aren’t a bad idea to pick up either ๐Ÿ™‚

Makeup to Tickle Your Fancy: Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Collection

I know this collection has been out for a while in the US but since Canada always gets things a little later, it’s still relatively new in our country so I thought I would share my thoughts on it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m talking about the Flights of Fancy collection by Wet n Wild! When Wet n Wild launches a colourful and fun makeup collection, especially in the summer, my eyes light up and my ears start to hum with excitement. This is definitely a makeup collection that tickles my fancy!

Inspired by the feathers of the Allen’s and Costa hummingbirds, this collection has tropical doses of purples, greens and blues as well as sweet pops of red, pink and coral. It’s a limited edition collection that comes with everything including 3 Color Icon Eyeshadow Quads, 2 MegaLiner Liquid Liners, 4 Color Icon Lip Glosses, 3 Color Icon Baked Blushes, a Perfect Pout Lip Scrub and a Photo Focus Primer Water.

Makeup to Tickle Your Fancy: Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Collection

Featuring a highly pigmented, pearly formulaย the 3 Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad‘s ($3.99) offer a unique, satin texture that blends evenly and won’t fade or crease. Stop Ruffling My Feathers offers a mix of bronzy and coral pink shades for a stunning summer look and Hasta La Costa Baby showcases pops of green and purple for a more colourful makeup look.

The Color Icon Baked Blush‘s ($5.99) come formulated with micro-fine pearl pigments to give your skin that tropical glow and the shades and hummingbird design on the product itself is stunning. Don’t Flutter Yourself is a coral pink that is always a must have for any summer collection and Dare to Soar is a bold purpley pink that looks stunning on darker skin tones.

The Color Icon Lip Gloss‘s ($4.99) come in 4 shades, including Pout of Paradise, a burnt orange that I get serious fall vibes from. They’re highly pigmented glosses that feature vitamin E and murumuru seed butter which keep your lips moisturized and nourished while looking glossy and gorgeous.

To amp up the look of your lips even more, the Perfect Pout Lip Scrub ($4.99), which comes in Citrus Elixir and Pecker Up and smell and taste as delicious as they sound, are made with extra fine sugar to buff away dead skin to keep them looking soft and supple. The scrubs also contain murumuru seed butter, as well as tucuma seed butter which both keep your lips nourished, moisturized and looking healthy.

Lastly, prep, set and/or refresh your skin with the Photo Focus Primer Water ($5.99). The primer water will keep you looking refreshed and glowing throughout the summer.

My Glittery Thoughts:

WnW knows how to come out with high quality eyeshadows that feel as good as higher end shadows and the quads are a perfect example of that. I love the fun and interesting colour combinations and how easy they are to work with. I like that there are options for the colour lovers, like me, and for the softer, more neutral eye makeup lovers. Plus, they’re only $3.99 each, so there is no reason to not get your hands on all of them! The blushes are another big hit for me because of their buttery texture and seamless blendability. The purpley pink, Dare to Soar, is a little too dark for my cheeks but it is a stunning eyeshadow and I love adding it to a look made with the Stop Ruffling My Feathers eyeshadow quad.

Another big hit in this collection is the Perfect Pout Lip Scrub. It’s nothing I’ve seen from Wet n Wild before but it makes sense because the sun can dry out your lips and make them look cracked and gross and these scrubs are a delicious and fun way of keeping them in good, healthy condition. The lip gloss shade, while gorgeous and very pigmented, doesn’t look the greatest on me, but I do want to give it another shot when it gets closer to fall because it just reminds me of pumpkins, PSL’s and colder weather. But the gloss feels very comfortable and moisturizing.

I had a bit of trouble getting the gold liquid liner to show up and look as opaque as possible while the dark green went on deep and dark with one stroke. I wish the gold had more pigmentation because I’d love to own a bold gold liquid liner but I will still use it regardless. Lastly, I love anything that hydrates and keeps my makeup looking fresh and the Photo Focus Primer Water is perfect in that way. It leaves a dewy finish and although it doesn’t make my makeup last much as long as my favourite setting sprays, it’s still a nice base and refresher for your makeup.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation: Pale Girl Approved Shades

Review, Wet n Wild
Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation: Pale Girl Approved Shades

I love getting excited about a new foundation line, only to find out that the palest shade is still too dark or not the right tone. Well all that has changed thanks to Wet n Wild‘s new Photo Focus Foundation. The collection comes with not one not two but five Ivory based shades!

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation: Pale Girl Approved ShadesThe Photo Focus Foundation line is all about making your skin look like your own but better. It’s formulated with a matte, light-diffusing complex that gives your skin a #nofilter appearance and the complex also helps prevent giving you a white cast appearance in photos. To assure this, they tested the foundation under 7 light conditions with and without using flash photography. Not only do they have their bases covered with plenty of foundations for pale girls like myself, but they have tons of shades for dark skinned girls, who also have trouble finding the right shades, which brings the complete foundation offering to a total of 20 shades.

Price: $5.99 US / $7.99 CAD / 30 ml / Available now at Walmart

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation: Pale Girl Approved ShadesFrom L-R: Shell Ivory, Soft Ivory, Nude Ivory

My Glittery Thoughts:

For this review, I got to test out three out of the five pale shades, which also includes Porcelain (the lightest shade) and Rose Ivory (the darkest of the pale shades). I figured the three within that range would offer the best colour choices for me and I was right. Firstly, I really like the applicator and the fact that I can dab a bit of the foundation all over my face without having to pour some onto the back of my hand. The first foundation, Shell Ivory, has a nice neutral pale colour that sits in between being a cool and warm shade and ended up being a perfect match for me. The next one was Soft Ivory, which is warm toned and when I want a warmer, more tanned look that is still natural on me, this shade works perfectly. The last foundation I tried was Nude Ivory, another neutral-toned shade thats a little bit darker than Shell Ivory but is still a decent match on my skin. The formula feels light and goes on smooth and yet it offers a beautiful medium coverage that gives a long wearing, matte finish that doesn’t oxidize over time. Since it’s got a matte finish, it works best when my skin is really hydrated underneath, just so it doesn’t cling to any dry spots. I’ve read reviews of some people getting bumps after wearing the foundation, but I’ve never experienced anything like that. I think if you have sensitive skin, you should test it out and see how your skin reacts to it first, otherwise I think you will love it like I do!
